Gearbox questions....

It's about that time.... The gearbox in mine is on the way out, or at least the syncro's are... I was wondering if anyone would recommend a straight oem replacement or another one - i do the occasional track work with the car and it's my weekend toy so does get used.... Any suggestions?

I have a spare 172 box you can have for £200, no knocks/bangs etc, Agency Transmissions could then do a full refurb on top for £250-300.

Thats then £500 for what is effectively a brand new box.

Cue, what are the signs of your gearbox going, having never had a gearbox go on me I would be interested in knowing what to look out for.

syncro's are all but worn and I think my laziness to get them done is doing some damage..

When under hard accel, getting it into 2nd and 3rd is neigh on impossible. It'll clunk going into 3rd, even under 3k revs. It jumps out of 4th of its own vollition and going down the gears, it clunks in 3rd, 2nd and 1st.
