Does VIN number collate to Trophy number?

Slightly strange question but does anyone know if UK Trophys were all built in numerical VIN number order, which increases at an identical rate to the number plaque on the driver's seat?

For example, my Trophy is number 003/500 and the last five numbers on its VIN/chassis number are 45098. Does this mean Trophy number 004/500 is VIN number 45099 and Trophy 005/500 is VIN number 45100, etc.?

Anyone know?

Hi Harry, mine doesn't follow this sequence, about 7000 out of sequence.

May be there's some random selection applied and/or as the Ts were sold for about a year, may be made alongside other 182s as demand/parts dictated?

Mine's number 193 & ends with 52xxx
