I purchased the car from its former owner in Feb this year. I had always wanted to try one, and my when Pete’s very tidy, meticulously maintained, and sympathetically modified Trophy became available- I got my chance. It has only been driven in the dry, always garaged, always warmed up and down- and I’ve driven less than 1000 road-only miles since purchase.

While I have enjoyed the car, it is so tidy it doesn’t really need anything, and a new rally car build has grabbed my attention and is clamouring for financial injection and garage space.

It is currently fitted with aftermarket Recaro Speed front seats- the original and almost perfect Trendlines are included at the asking price, or either set can be excluded by negotiation.

Massive folder of history, two keys, and a few assorted spares.

The car is located in Buckhurst Hill, Essex.

Bodywork:

  • Front-end respray (bumper, bonnet, wings, roof strips and door handles) by Tiki Customs in December 2016
  • ‘Smoothed’ door bullets, repainted with “2.0 16v” script in anthracite
Electrical Equipment:

  • All electrical equipment in good working order – exterior/interior lights, blower fan, cruise control, OE stereo, front electric windows and electric mirrors
  • A/C condenser radiator and dryer removed (supplied with car), to allow space behind bumper for cold air feed. All other A/C components retained and will require recommissioning
  • Front headlight units replaced with aftermarket items with full new bulb set in September 2017
Chassis / Floor Pan:

  • OE fitment Sachs remote-reservoir front suspension dampers fully refurbished and powder coated to OE specification, including replacement shafts on both units, by BG Motorsport in June 2016 (also refurbished by BG Motorsport on at least one previous occasion)
  • Cooksport lowering springs (OE Eibach springs supplied with car) fitted in June 2016
  • Front suspension rebuilt in August/September 2015 with new OE Renault lower wishbones, lower ball joints, inner/outer tie rods, suspension top mounts and all associated nuts/bolts/bushes
  • Refurbished rear suspension beam installed in August 2016, along with new OE fitment Sachs suspension dampers, Powerflex main axle bushes, Powerflex suspension top mounts and all associated nuts/bolts/bushes
  • Whiteline rear anti-roll bar (2-stage adjustable) installed in August 2016 with refurbished rear suspension beam • Powerflex front anti-roll bar bushes and steering rack bushes
  • Upper engine mount Powerflex ‘black’ insert fitted in August 2016
  • Upper/lower gearbox mounts replaced with Febi items in August 2016
  • Rear gearbox ‘dogbone’ mount Powerflex ‘purple’ inserts fitted in August 2016
  • Refurbished, OE fitment front brake calipers, Brembo Max discs and Ferodo DS2500 pads with Goodridge braided flexi-hoses and Motul RBF600 brake fluid
  • Rear brake calipers replaced with re-conditioned OE fitment units in August 2016, along with new OE discs and pads
Interior:

  • ‘Snappy’ (cliosport.net forum) re-trimmed steering wheel in black leather with red centre line and stitching
  • Dynamique-spec rear bench back with head-rests (original had a damaged retaining clip)
  • Replacement gear stick top insert
  • Brand new aftermarket Recaro Speed front seats in black cloth with red “Recaro” script and stitching (original Recaro Trendlines available as a replacement for the Speeds or by separate negotiation with the vehicle)
Wheels/Tyres:

  • All four OE Speedline Turini alloy wheels (ET45 Trophy specification) refurbished by The Wheel Specialist in March 2016 (fitted with new OE centre caps)
  • New Yokohama AD08R tyres (plenty of life left in these) in correct OE size fitted to OE Speedline Turini alloy wheels during refurbishment in March 2016
  • Engine and Transmission:
  • Full cambelt/dephaser/water pump/thermostat/coolant service with OE parts in late 2015, less than 5k miles ago (new cambelt also fitted during head/camshaft upgrade)
  • New OE Magnetti Marelli IWP42 injectors, OE coil pack, OE spark plugs and Magnecor red HT leads in 2016
  • Ported and flowed OE Renault cylinder head (matched to inlet) by MS Custom Engineering, installed in July 2017 (new cambelts also fitted), with new OE valve stem seals and end caps
  • Catcams ‘438 canshafts (with OE timing marks) installed in July 2017
  • Upper/lower inlet manifolds ported/flowed/matched and throttle body also flowed, and all painted in anthracite, by MS Custom Engineering in June 2017
  • ARP conrod bolts installed in July 2017
  • ECU re-calibration by RS Tuning in July 2017 following engine/cam upgrades, 193bhp with rolling road print-out
  • Engine block inspected during cylinder head upgrade in July 2017 –original cylinder bore honing marks remain visible and compression test confirmed excellent engine health (Cylinders 1-4: 185/190/190/180)
  • New Bosch S4 battery in 2016
  • Engine oil and filter changed using OE specification ELF RN-Tech 5W40 engine oil and OE filter four times since July 2015
