Thinking of a trackday, so advice please...

Well what a coincidence , I have just done close to 100 laps of Snetterton today on an all day trackday. My suspension isn't standard so can't really comment how the standard dampers are on track but for sure you will want uprated stoppers and consider carefully also what tyres you use. I have...

Hey Dan , yes very happy thanks:) thanks for your attention yesterday and I will let you know how I get on at Snetterton. Yep those Yoko tyres transform the look for sure.

Off to 519 Automotive on Thursday......

Well had a great drive back , the car now actually goes round corners !!! Feels pretty amazing TBH with virtually no roll , and simply amazing agility as mentioned above it does feel pretty stiff but acceptable. The brakes feel super strong , a little squeaky in town but again acceptable for...

Off to 519 Automotive on Thursday......

Ha ha , when I got it it had Sachs on the back , Halfords on the front and four different branded cheap chinese tyres too. Hmmmm nice.

Off to 519 Automotive on Thursday......

Well guys some of you might remember that when I got the car the previous owner had removed the front Sachs shocks and just fitted halfords jobs:rolleyes: So I was forced into doing something and as it is only my track toy it made sense to go for a fully adjustable set.

Off to 519 Automotive on Thursday......

Well eventually I have gotten round to fitting my new Yokohama Advan Neova AD08 tyres to go alongside the K-Tec exhaust and induction kit already fitted. So on Thursday I am paying a visit to Dan at 519 Automotive to sort suspension and brakes. On the list is a set of Spax RSX fully adjustable...

Anyone using AST suspension on their Trophies ??

Cutting holes in it , wow that's dedication:D Well I aim to have it ready by March ideally as obviously need to make mu mind up which setup to go for yet.

Anyone using AST suspension on their Trophies ??

lol , thanks Kelv. Well I bought the Trophy for track use and do around 6-8 trackdays a year. My original idea was to spend up to £2000-2500 max on the required mods and have so far fitted the K-Tec Sports exhaust and induction , had a new cambelt kit , Aux tensioner and belt and had a service...

Anyone using AST suspension on their Trophies ??

Thanks Kelv for the info on the AST's , I spoke to Curtis today and got a quote for them and I suppose they were the price I imagined but they are twice the price of a set of Spax RSX or KW variant 2's for instance and I am going to have to think long and hard whether thats a wise investment...

Anyone using AST suspension on their Trophies ??

Hmm , thats a shame about the service when it's such a great piece of equipment. Although for me it will be a one off fitment so hopefully should be ok.

Anyone using AST suspension on their Trophies ??

Hi Kelv , ahhhh that would be great , look forward to reading your views on them. Cheers

Anyone using AST suspension on their Trophies ??

Yes I had read about the H&R , K-Tec say to wait for the Nitron dampers they are developing if not they say that the Spax RSX setup is excellent as well. The reason for asking about AST is I note that a lot of race Clio's have these fitted so they must be pretty damn good. Decided to go for...

Anyone using AST suspension on their Trophies ??

Hi guys , I had thought that I would go for the Nitron Damper setup that K-Tec are developing for the Trophy but have read great things about AST. And I just wondered if anyone on here has them fitted and what they think ? Cheers Neil

Frustrated with former owner and mods now needed.......................

Well thanks again for the offer but I like the Trophy wheels so will keep them although I have been told that 15 inch wheel would be better for tracking . Vanity hey ! Do you have the Koni's then , how are they on track ?? Cheers

Frustrated with former owner and mods now needed.......................

Thank you very much for the offer , but as someothers have mentioned too with my intenion to track the car I think some fully adjustable coilovers are going to be required. But thanks anyway , really good of you. Cheers

Frustrated with former owner and mods now needed.......................

Unfortunately this sometimes happens in the trade , when you get something misdescribed. If I had collected the Clio myself then this would not have happened but I sent a collection company and they were not to know. So hey ho I have gotten over that now but yes it's annoying though because...

H&R Coilovers - Definately a worthy Sachs replacement.

Hmmm , this sounds interesting. That's a good question from JJames , what type of H&R are those you have fitted ??

Frustrated with former owner and mods now needed.......................

Thanks for that advice. Well yes I intend to do at least 10 trackdays a year if I can. So track setup is vital for me so I may go for the Nitron kit as soon as it's finished. Cheers

Frustrated with former owner and mods now needed.......................

I intend to track the car on a regular basis so the Michelin just wouldn't be up to the job. The yoko AD08 is super sticky and can take lots of track work in it's stride too.

Frustrated with former owner and mods now needed.......................

As mentioned earlier in the thread , I am in the trade and bought the car unseen from a BMW dealer and I asked all the pertinent questions and was assured the car was as it should be. But it's not and I have to accept that and move on. I will now as you say get this car back to it's former...

Yes I did ask that question , and they haven't had one in a while but yes worth hanging on just in case.

Yes I have and I got the standard big main dealer response " READ THE SMALL PRINT"

Frustrated with former owner and mods now needed.......................

That's the thing in the trade Felix , you have to have faith but sometimes with specialist cars like a Trophy and many other cars that I sell , the average dealer just hasn't got a clue.

Frustrated with former owner and mods now needed.......................

Well you are not wrong the Nitron kit will be the wrong side of £1000. Where would you suggest getting some old Sachs dampers though ?? Seem pretty rare to me.

Frustrated with former owner and mods now needed.......................

Hey felix , well I bought the car unseen as a part exchange from a BMW dealer and the correct questions were asked too !! So you can probably understand I am miffed TBH. Cit-Ren are using all genuine parts and are doing the waterpump and dephaser pulley too. makes sense whilst there. My...

Frustrated with former owner and mods now needed.......................

Well as some of you will know I have just got my new trophy last week (no 451) and thought I would take it to Cit-Ren in Norwich for a checkover and to get some little jobs doing , door switch failed etc etc. Well I got a nasty surprise , the former keeper has replaced the front Sachs dampers...

New owner with a couple of questions......

I have used AD08's on my previous 350BHP TT Quattro Sport and that was a daily driver , never really had any issues at all and also run them on my S3 with the same power. You have to tread a little careful in freezing weather but they are excellent in the wet considering what they are made for...
