Hi everyone
Due to totally unforeseen circumstances way out of my control I have decided to sell the Clio Trophy I only bought a few weeks ago. I am selling due to an engine failure and this block will need rebuilding or a new engine dropping in to the car. The car has dropped a valve and...
I’ve tried staying off this as I’m that upset. Thanks for the support though I appreciate it. I have decided to sorn the car and cancel my insurance. The oil level was fine and coolant level was fine, in fact the car was pulling great etc and under the previous owner had just completed a trip...
The car needs a totally new engine I am totally gutted it's had a bottom end failure and has blown the engine in to bits. I am probably going to be selling as spares and repairs. Bodywork is good, has had a new genuine clutch fitted, everything is original, wheels recently refurbished. 4 good...
Car was pulling fine though and felt really tight and good! The car just lurched quite violently which makes me think it’s the cambelt that’s gone and all power just went like that.
I’m based in Nottingham so I’m near mick at diamond motors. It’s the sheer cost that puts me off plus I just think I will be nervous driving it again now when it’s done. Will have to see what the verdict is and go from there. I’m favouring selling it off though.
Problem is sharky I wouldn’t know if the second hand engine was any good and it wasn’t going to happen again! I’ve checked on here and one person got lucky I’m just praying I’m the same it was driving so well etc :(
Two weeks into trophy ownership and it's fair to say things haven't run smoothly:
I was driving today on an A road at a sensible 50mph speed, and suddenly my car lurched and came to a stop I am suspecting my cambelt has snapped even thought it was done at a reputable Renault Specialist in 2014...
Couple of quick photos:
First photo was driving the car home over the North Yorkshire Moors was a 4 hour journey home and he car and scenery were amazing!
Not got any photos just yet which is rubbish of me! Work is well underway while the parts were being stripped off we noticed the engine mount was extremely loose I am now hoping this is the cause of the knocking noise I can hear when I pull off (fingers crossed) I have ordered the Skoda Fabia...
Cheers Greg I think that's the garage I have seen on Facebook well reluctantly to update this I decided to release the car to the mechanics at my work (Honda main dealer) and they love the car to bits so were all desperate to get involved and the general feeling was the clutch release bareing is...
Thanks mate will take a look. Well lads at my workplace have had a look and they suspect gear box bearings. Is this quite common on the trophys? Mileage is 88k
Cheers
Sam
It's true I appreciate that basically the noises are as follows:
Clutch in no noise otherwise when the clutch is out there's a noise sounds like a clutch release baring but the clutch was replaced by birchdown autos.
Second noise is when I pull off from a standstill it clunks twice then goes...
Hi everyone
Just picked up my trophy and there's a few noises making me nervous to say the least, I want to get the car fully examined so I can feel confident taking it out and about.
I have contacted Mick at Diamond Motors but he isn't available to look at it till Mid November and I don't...
Well I got through and was promised photos of a few bits the next day and I have heard nothing.....
Cambelt was done 4 and a half years,he has had it serviced every 2 years at a small garage but not a specialist etc. Never noticed the seats weren't number I looked and on the rear photo you can...
