Right then, this old chestnut of a topic - I returned my 'not working' struts back to SGS who tested and confirmed they are correctly set at 340N. However, having viewed the video I sent them of my boot opening (or not as the case) they agree they are not right and are going to increase the...
I had the same problem even after specifying the Clio 182 Trophy specific struts - would only lift half way and also creak on boot closure. Not impressed with SGS so far.
Just to add - my SGS Clio Trophy struts:
1. do not fully open the boot, they stop half way along their travel so I need to push the final half with my hand
2. they also creak when I close the boot
I am now having to return to SGS - a right pain!!
Anyone else have similar problems?
Just been out for a cross-country cruise/blast - wow - reminded me what a mega car it is!
Anyway - in a very long time (if at all) I lowered the steering wheel a little, and the driving position feels so much better. Less ape-like more F1-racer ;)
Nice photo.
Would be interesting to compare both set-ups head to head, on road and track.
I think I'd prefer to put the £900 towards refurbishing the Sachs.
Just a comment, the Trophy was all about handling not outright power. How about focusing your energy and money on the handling side? Perfect this and you'll carry more speed more of the time. So option 1/2 it is.
thanks for the photo - i cant quite see how far around the nipple it goes... 3/4 of the way around?
did you push with your hand or something stronger?
did you put some grease in the socket?
