Well I've had an update on this today. The Financial Ombudsman agreed the valuation of £2770 was far too low and had instructed Glass’s to do an updated valuation. This now stands at £5100.
This is obviously great news for myself, but should also help anyone else who find themselves in the...
You're right. I looked into it when I first bought the car 3 years ago, but have stuck with mainstream insurers. I guess it's not until you have to claim that you find out how much hassle and stress it causes. Hindsight is a wonderful thing eh
I've bought the car back. It's never even been out of my possession. It's purely cosmetic damage and I'm still driving it.
I sent them 6 adverts when i refused the valuation. The letter above is their response. They recommend i take it up with the Financial Ombudsman.
No, I want my insurers to pay out what the car is worth. I don't have an agreed value, just a standard policy with Hastings. I'm sure you'll agree £2770 is way below what these sell for.
The car is on 106k.
I think I'm going to have to provide evidence now Rik. This letter is my insures final word on the matter. Not sure how much research the FOS will do themselves.
The fault really lies with Parkers, Glass's for not being accurate. We're talking less than 50% of the value in my eyes.
As some of you may know, my Trophy was involved in an accident before Christmas, resulting in it being classed as a Cat C.
My problem now lies with the valuation the insurers deem the car to be worth. Which they value at £2770. They're not willing to increase this, so it will have to be referred...
B pillar is fine. It's just what you can see in the photos. I've been offered £2770, minus £810 if I want to keep the car. Obviously I've rejected this offer
Think I'm going to look at getting this repaired. The stress this has caused me the past week has been unbearable and it's not even my fault :disappointed:
Cheers guys. My insurers are awaiting the report from the accident management company, then they will pass it on to yet another company who will deal with the valuation. I had in my head that my insurers would be fighting my corner. Just feels like a bunch of companies trying to make money on...
Definitely needs paint. Really not sure what route to go down with this. With the luck I've had with it lately, I'm thinking it might be time to move on
Has anyone gone through proving a cars value to an insurer? While they've not given me a figure yet, they've told me they use the likes of Parkers and Glass's for valuations. Parkers list a good one at £1810...
I've had it looked at by my local body shop, who recently did the front end respray, and Lookers, who the insurers booked it with. Both have said it needs a new rear quarter
Well it's a sad day for #456
While turning into a junction last week. A Range Rover waiting to turn right, failed to see me and drove straight into the drivers side.
The door closes fine and still lines up. But after taking it for an assessment last Friday, the insurers are deeming it...
Spoken to Rik in great lengths about these already :tearsofjoy: I'm just weighing up whether to just get this problem sorted now, or look at getting them stripped and powder coated in the new year.
Got the engine cover fitted, along with repainting the inlet and injector cover. Need the rest of the engine bay tidying up, but it's a start
Also fitted a new rear number plate light housing, with an LED bulb
I noticed my exhaust was blowing recently. So I got it up on the ramp and...
Had a little paintwork done early this summer. The front end was always an area that let the car down. It had seen paint earlier in it's life, but I was never happy with the quality or colour match. Booked it in at a local paint shop for a front end respray and a machine polish over the rest of...
February 2016
Well not a huge to update for the rest of 2015 and beginning of this year really. I moved house during the summer and I'm closer to work. With the Trophy being my daily, this has meant the milage hasn't clocked up too much. I've also not had to do too much to the car either...
Thought I'd knock up a little thread detailing the life of #456.
I don't have big plans for the car really, just wanted to make a timeline of things and give the car a bit of extra history.
I bought #456 in March 2014 from JohnnyE. I wasn't originally looking for a Trophy, but after a weekend...
