Got my winter Speedlines back from Karl @ Rim Renov8 in Colchester tonight.
Superb job, wheels are mega sparkly, nicely finished and the Speedline logos are paint not decals so they’re perfect and under the lacquer.
Lol it has been a bit like that hasn’t it. Owned the BTM from new when BTM were still around and afteR many years, just fancied a change. Different look and sound. Always wanted an Orbisoud and when one became available, I just had to try it out. Decided its aesthetic wasn’t for me and now have...
Thanks very much for the kind words
Going to this from my BTM none at all. If anything I’d say cabin vibrations are reduced due to a proper mounting system. No drone, no nasty resonance, no tinny rasp.
Just looks, fits and sounds absolutely bang on.
The most important bit everyone wants to know though. How does it sound?
Once home I adjusted the tips back to the bumper line. I just love how purposeful it looks now. ?
So, finally after a few weeks wait, my new exhaust system arrived. Yes I weighed up my options and seriously considered going back to Matt at Simpson’s. However when I started to really dive into it, I was looking at the thick end of £1300
After numerous conversations and videos sent by some...
I personally disagree. They do not offer the same characteristics of a new / newer tyre.
Ive had perosnal experience of this on other cars, and to my mind theyre not safe. If youre a car dealer and want to flog someone a motor on its original rubber as some sort of positive aspect, then great...
Okay to the letter of the law, youre correct, they wouldnt fail an MOT.
But, theyll be as hard as nails and would you wanna drive any kind of performance car on 15 year old rubber?
So nothing much happening on WZD lately, just waiting on a few odds and ends.
Sold the Orbisoud which has now gone to a new home and temporarily put my BTM system back on. It’s remarkable how good condition it’s in and the quality of it has really shown. Since I knew it’s fitment was temporary...
Also these are what Renault used as an OEM for the Trophy R. So if it passes legislation to be sold by an OEM it’s about as high quality and safe as you’ll get.
He left his one in his nans garage over a whole winter and it went flat, we couldnt even open the doors. We ended up dragging (Yes i know) a brand new Trophy R out so we could get in the doors and get the bonnet open. Even with the conditioner and my LiFe04 Ctek, it was toast.
An expensive...
I can tell you now from the £800 bill, the charger will not bring it back from fully flat im afraid.
Theyre best off kept on charge if not used. If used regularly theyre no problem at all.
Hey Mike,
If you're happy with the current volume/fit etc then I’d say get the cat cut/sleeved. As you may swap to a different exhaust and be unhappy with that too.
I personally have the oem cat and the old BTM system on mine and its barely louder than stock, its very civilised and zero boom...
The oem olive joint on the 182 cat is pants and to be honest they’re better off being cut out and either sleeved of flanged.
PMS actually do a cat derestriction kit whereby you cut off the crap 47mm olive and TIG on a new conical section with a 63mm outlet and sleeve your midpipe to suit...
Thanks to everyones comments on this and i have taken onboard the feedback which largely mirrors my own. I have taken the speedlines to a different (unfortunately far more expensive) refurb shop here in Essex to be completely stripped and refinished.
Annnoying to have to pay out twice, but this...
Can only buy non Renault specific Turinis though which means i lose 2.2mm offset per side. That doesnt bother me but ive been told the Renault centre caps dont fit?
Tried on her freshly refurbished winter wheels today.
16” Speedline Turinis, a classic look for the little Mk2 Clio but is it time for a change?
What do you think?
Megs i stopped using years ago because it flings around the vehicle body. I like the water based ones best.
Gtechniq or Carpro Perl are both superb and dont leave a sticky mess on the tyres thereafter.
