Frayz’s Inferno orange 182 - Back in the old flame

Okay so ive taken a look to investigate the non functioning stepper motor for the HVAC temp. I’ve checked the wiring to both the stepper motor plugs and to the HVAC control unit for damage. I can’t find anything. I know the suspect stepper motor is functioning correctly as when I connect it to...

Dave. If you use WhatsApp you can always drop me your number. This fella is obviously a breaker and little care is taken, but all you need to know is in this video, it really is that simple.

To be honest Dave, the dash top comes off so easy, it would take you 10 minutes to have a look yourself in that area. I could talk you through it. To be honest, other than the passenger airbag theres not really much above that area. The airbag bolts to the dash bar with 4 torx screws. It could...

I did the following to try and help with making it as secure as possible. Wrapped any key harness areas in foam and fabric tape. There is a lot of exposed harness as standard which is unprotected from abrasion, so worthwhile imo. Wrapped foam and fabric tape where the harness passes the crash...

So, the Christmas works in lovely Tier 4 Essex. First up was just a straight forward oil service, no issues and the oil removed was still pretty clean. Secondly was a job I had been putting off, investigating a very very slight coolant leak (approx 1cm drop in the expansion tank in approx 3...

Sachs, time for a new solution?

I know there were a number of problems years ago when it was run by Curtis etc, but I do think things have changed there now Marc since he’s no longer there. Worth asking BG what they would do in some Ohlins. You’d want something further up the scale than just their road/track DFVs I assume?

Sachs, time for a new solution?

Correct, most coilover units use a 2.25” spring but are available in linear and progressive rates. Linear is arguably more common though. I’m not 100% but I’m pretty sure the OEM spring will be a progressive wind. With that said, yes I think you would notice a slight difference but I think the...

Sachs, time for a new solution?

Ohlins, Reiger, EXE-TC, Nitron, Tractive, JRZ, KW, DMS, AST/Moton etc. None of them matter unless they’re valved and sprung correctly to suit the needs of the purpose the car is being used for. All of which will be a compromise of some form. I think of anyone is genuinely serious in a high end...

Sachs, time for a new solution?

I had a set of custom AST5100s built with Road damping in mind. Their usual track rates are around 90n/90n or 90n/110n. Mine were valved and sprung to 70n/40n. This is still quite abit firmer than the OEM Trophy damping, but absolutely nothing to say you couldn’t have a set built with totally...

Couple of little “tinker” jobs on WZD today. First up was a nice new bonnet release latch. I had planned to buy one and. Luckily found a new part on eBay for £10.50 delivered so couldn’t pass that up. Because new bits. :D Second was replacing all the trim clips on the tailgate trim. I hate...

    Clio 182 Trophy #368/500 - Mega Spec

Stellar purchase there fella. I was lucky enough to get a proper look around that car once ash had completed it and I agree. It’s beautiful. Really pleased to see it’s gone to someone who appreciates a properly modified car and the huge amount of effort Ash went to in order to get it that way...

    Clio 182 Trophy #368/500 - Mega Spec

Still at £7600. Hopefully it has a good run at the end as I’ve seen some proper crap Trophy’s go at this money and Ash’s car is in a different league to almost all others in terms of condition. Cue it selling for low teens and everyone thinking their old Trophy is worth the same. Certainly an...

Frayz’s Inferno orange 182 - Back in the old flame

Not much happening on WZD lately. However something I’ve had for a while has been a freshly powdercoated front ARB I’ve been meaning to fit. The ARB bushes are literally the very last bush on the car to replace. I had been putting them off as they have a reputation for being a royal pain in the...

    Clio 182 Trophy #368/500 - Mega Spec

All I’ll say is it won’t make what it deserves to. Personally I think Ash’s own ad sells it better than the CC one.

These will be ET43 so effectively poke out 2mm further than an OEM Trophy wheel.

    Clio 182 Trophy #368/500 - Mega Spec

Whilst i wholeheartedly see the points raised above, i see this from a slightly different angle. I agree that many will want the "halo" model in factory trim because thats whats deemed to be special etc, however, Im going to stick my neck out here and don the flame suit, but the Trophy as good...

    Clio 182 Trophy #368/500 - Mega Spec

Knowing Ash and knowing his impecable attention to detail. It came as no suprise when i got to look around this car in the metal a few weeks ago just how stunning it is. The level of finish on it is beyond any other Clio ive seen. The phrase "photos dont do it justice" is often overused, however...

Not much to update on the little 182. Popped to Caffeine & Machine the other week with friends inc @Dr Jekyll, @MrBlonde & @Ash J. Great day with the company in tow but less said about the actual place the better. Hugely overrated imo and as expected typical Instagram style over substance...

Something I’ve been after for a while is a PMS sump guard. I’m always mindful that the car is pretty low and when pressing on in the back of my mind about catching the underside on something. Luckily one came up on eBay in good condition a few weeks back, so ordered new M8 RivNuts from Nick @...

So the lunacy continues as i made the 3 hour round trip over to see Rich @ Ruislip Tyres today to get the EVOs fitted. Exceptional service as always from him taking the upmost care in everything he does. If you're over that way i can highly reccommend him, as a good tyre fitter is like golddust...

@Gambit and anyone else looking to run these on a Brembo setup. 2118s ET43 with a 10mm Slip on PMS spacer gives 29mm clearance from a stock caliper. X3MA ET38 with no spacer gives 33mm clearance from a stock caliper. Looks like I’m deffo going to have to clean up my arches and make my...

After 127k miles my original climate panel was still perfectly functional but the button logos had worn quite badly. Pickup a spare climate panel from a member which was still a sticky sport item but I was going to steal the buttons from it because they were mint. When I stripped it down i...

To be honest he said it stook them 4 attempts to get the logos right as theyre so small and fine. I bet it was a twat of a job to do, but the finished result is nice and i think its the difference between a good job and something a bit more special. :)
