Cleaned up with a wire brush/drill.
Washed in brake cleaner.
Painted with a brush with smoothrite silver.
Be warned though, the Hammerite will Yellow over time. I’d recommend you use a genuine 2 part caliper paint.
Personally i have Gtechniq on my Cayman and im very pleased with it. However if i were to have it painted id just go down the PPF route to keep it mint.
This is the link to the topic that came up in the Porsche Cayman section of PH not so long back.
Depends what type of person you are as to if it suits your needs or not.
Have a read,

Little job I’ve wanted to do was renew the tired old gear knob.
The top of the original was smooth with printed H pattern. However these are no longer available from Renault so I have one with an embossed H pattern.
I’d read that these were a nightmare to get off, but I was in luck as this...
With the original number plates made over 8 years ago now, they were showing their age. New ones on with some fresh 3M dual locks freshen up the car a treat.
Also fitted a small “Vive Le Sport” decal as a historical nod to the racing turbo Renault’s back in the 80s. (Excuse the dust, I’d just...
Fortunately,
My decals are all present and correct.
Although I do want to machine polish the boot replace the boot badges.
However I know the OEM RENAULT is NLA.
However parts are out there if you can find them. I’ve just found a new old stock gear knob new in the packet. ?
Collected the car from Alex @ AW Motorworks this evening and I have to say it drives like a totally different car.
I gave Alex instruction that he was to go through the car from top to bottom and although didn’t have an “open chequebook” he was to replace anything that was required.
I was...
The usual awesome service from my good friend Mark @ MarkOne Graphics. He made my original plates 8 years ago and has just made a new pair to freshen the car up once more.
He also made me some “made in Dieppe” decals of which I may/may not fit.
Got this idea from the Porsche GT boys some of...
Dropped the car with Alex at AW Motorworks tonight for a few days. She’s in for a fair bit of love.
Cambelt kit.
Aux belt kit.
Dephaser pulley.
Cam oil seal kit & caps.
Crank bolt.
Water pump & Antifreeze.
Full OEM clutch kit with release bearing
Gearbox oil
Engine oil/filter
All being...
Not much to update but a few more odds and sods.
Wen I first owned the car I fitted what was at the time a pretty high spec Alpine HU. FFwd to now and I wanted one that would stream from my phone as well as have a full high speed iPod connection.
So swapped out the CDE-113BT for a CDE-178BT...
Wish mine was PPFd from new, however I may go down that route if/when I have the front end resprayed.
Too many enjoyable drives have allowed me to pick up a few stonechips now.
Apologies for my somewhat abrubt previous reply, I was busy at the time and should have waited to respond. Basically found a lad on Facebook breaking a 172 Cup and I had them off him. Had numerous breakers offer them for the same money when they were next available, just a waiting game I guess...
Ever heard the expression
“Lions do not concern themselves with the opinions of sheep”?
Haha
I too have driven many a GT3, and they too have their flaws, and that’s coming from a total Porsche fanboy who’s holy grail is a GT3. Reading Mr Haegelis letter it sounds as though there was something...
In that case a PF-01 is not what you want, mega bite but not quiet.
The best person I know for pad compounds is Alyn @ AS Performance, what he doesn’t know about this sort of thing you can write on the back of a postage stamp in felt tip!
asperformance.com
Brembo HC plain discs, proper pads, braided hoses and good quality fluid.
Pad choice is personal, personally I hate DS2500s as I think they’re awful.
I like Pagids RS range or maybe the 01s from Performance Friction.
As these are notorious for breaking, I’ve added 2 M3 steel pins to each part and filled the cavities with 2 part Upol polymer resin. The nuts are just standard M14 x 1.5mm so they can also be replaced with nylon items so this should never be an issue again.
Might be worth you boys doing...
Another job I’ve been meaning to do is get the rear panels off to check the state of the sills from inside.
Happy to report there is no corrosion in here at all. So just a quick hoover round, clear the drainage holes and a liberal coat of Waxoil.
I will however order some Bilt Hamber and...
The Cup washer blanks arrived today.
As these are notorious for breaking so I’ll fill the thread centres with resin and internally sleeve them.
Just need to decide if I paint these satin black or body colour.
More parts arrived today in the shape of a new OEM Centre mount for the exhaust and managed to track down a pair of genuine Cup washer blanks.
These are notorious for breaking so I’ll fill the thread centres with resin and internally sleeve them.

Nothing much, however I collected some small bits from the dealers in the way of some blanks for the bottom of the tailgate to finish the holes.
Also collected new rivets for the skirts as I want to have them off to clean/underseal and refit.
The OEM Black rivets are no longer available and...
If you can find one, the BTM system sounds nice and isn’t overly loud inside. Light weight and looks nice.
However if you want something completely bespoke and quality unlike anything else, speak to Matt @ Simpson Race Exhausts in Slough.
Haha. They’re getting there aren’t they. Only come with 5mm on from new.
Think they will see the rest of the summer out and get some new ones for next year.
