Also regarding boot buzzing. If you have a solid poly exhaust mount, ditch it for a honeycomb Grams item. It cut out a lot of reverb through the boot foor for me.

Morning sir. The paint in question is VHT wrinkle black. It’s good for high temp applications up to around 175c. Prep wise, full degrease with just some concentrated household degreaser (Flash), hot water and a good scrubbing brush. I did this soaking the parts in large buckets of hot water...

When you pop the boot trim off you’ll see there are small male poppers in the metal work and female clips that sit in the trim. I found these female pieces to be quite loosely fitting in the trim panel. I added some spots of RTV silicone on them to stop them buzzing. RTV if you’re not familiar...

Before you go buying, I havent confirmed this works yet, I’m just having a play. I had some in stock and I think it came from Car Builder Solutions years ago. If you search ebay etc for (3mm U edge rubber) you can choose some. You can buy different thicknesses for differing panel thickness. You...

Spent the last few days cleaning and prepping some engine bay bits to be painted. Ported/matched inlets, fuel rail guard, engine mount bracket the usual suspects. Got these in paint yesterday. Overall I think they have come out reasonably well and should help clean the standard engine bay up...

Agreed Ben, however you will need a decent sized stand to get on that section of chassis rail. ??

I like the ratchet items from SGS. They have a nice compact head so you can get them in tighter places. Also nice to have some flat pad stands that spread the load further on your chassis rails

    Jacking technique

Jack up centrally on the rear beam and use grooved rubber pads on the rear sills and place your stands there. That’s what I’d do anyway.

Thank you sir, I do hope so. it’s still far from the condition of many others but it’s a tidy little thing and I just hope to keep it that way. Doesn’t look too sat considering it does 50 miles a day, every day in all weathers. I wanna see at least another 123k miles In it. ??

Finally the very last piece of my hub swap arrived in the form of 2 new Bosch ABS sensors. I cleaned the holes and sprayed with Dynax before installing as hopefully this should stop them ever welding themselves in again. Also nice to not have my dash lit up like a Christmas tree as it has been...

You may remember when I replaced the radiator I found the AC condenser to be rotted through at the bottom. So I ordered a new one, which arrived today, unfortunately our friends at FedEx decided to damage for me by bending the top row of fins by bending the brackets. The distributor was superb...

Thanks chap, Like I say, it’s no show pony, but after 15 years, I’m just trying to preserve the little car I love so much. its my daily driver and up to 125k miles now, so will never be worth anything, but I absolutely love it so will attempt to keep it as nice as I can for as long as possible.

Project lockdown. So having cleaned and protected the front panel when I did the rad, today I wanted to pop the rear bumper off and check the rear. Instantly turned into a longer job than expected as both the rear arch liner fixings sheared clean off. Great!! #facepalm So I decided to grind...

Coolant bottle finally turned up so fitted that, filled and bled the system with new Renault type D coolant. New TCAs assembled and fitted. All hub hardware checked, double checked and marked before running it down the road to my local tyre shop to get the geometry setup. The short very slow...

Frayz’s Inferno orange 182 - Back in the old flame

If you mean the Evans stuff, I’d rather not. I really don’t like it and if you ever have an issue, you can’t top up with water in an emergency. Coolant isn’t expensive or difficult to change. After 15 years, my visible water ways look mint. So I’d rather change it regularly as I don’t think it’s...

Project lockdown continued today with the arrival of a new PAS switch to try and cure my PAS leak. Still no coolant bottle arrival so that will have to wait. Anyway, I fitted the new PAS switch which hopefully does the trick. Also decided to bite the bullet and crack on with the roll centre...

Bumper removal on these are laughably easy to remove. Get the front of the car elevated as it’s much easier to see. - 2x plastic press clips at the top of the grille - 4x torx (2 per side) screws that attach the front wheel arch liners to the front bumper under the splitter. - 2x (1 per side)...

Lock In day 437 and reason 56732 why the neighbours think I’m mental. First job was to bleed the brakes after the lose swap yesterday. So that was just a top up of Motul RBF600 as I had flushed and replaced the fluid over the new year. Then I dropped the front off WZD to swap the rad. The new...

Frayz’s Inferno orange 182 - Back in the old flame

So today’s little jobs. Service parts arrived from RPD so I cracked on with her oil/filter. First time she’s had Castrol rather than the ELF oil. Whilst under the car I saw quite a lot of dispersed oil which I traced as PAS fluid. Close inspection found a crack in the switch housing. So I’ve...

So a very kind gentleman on Pistonheads gifted me some colour coded door bullets. I trial fitted them today to see what I think. The colour match is miles away on my car but gives me an idea if I would like to move away from the OEM silver. My silver ones are original and have never been...

    60mm spacing Cup dampers.

Removed from my 182 due to fitting coilovers. These have done about 40k miles on my car. Perfect for a Trophy owner who need to keep their car rolling when refreshing their Sachs. £50 Essex. Does NOT include springs or topmounts.

Today’s job, Fit PMS rear spacers and wheel stud/nut kit. Also decided now the suns coming out to get my summer wheels on. Yes they’re doing “driveway durability testing” at the mo. But they have confirmed 100% that I’m done with black wheels. My Turinis will get a colour change at some point...
