Whist I appreciate my somewhat cynical previous response. The Trophy front dampers are what actually makes the Trophy drive the way it does, they’re an external reservoir damper with motorsport derived design. They’re expensive and rightfully so.
The rears on the other hand have no such...
They’re only worth buying if you value the originality of the car that it MUST wear Trophy rear dampers, and your car lives in a museum.
Somethings only worth what someone will pay. But as said on here previously, I bet 99% of Trophy owners couldn’t do the Pepsi challenge on rear dampers be it...
Without trying to come over as a “know it all twat” because frankly... I don’t! Haha.
My day job is running 8 chassis dynos and have 3 climatic wind tunnels, so see quite a bit of airflow around vehicles.
I’ve every confidence it will be adequate. ?
So couple of tiny jobs on WZD this morning that i wanted to do.
Firstly was fit new 12.9 hardware to the TCAs. I had previously zinc coated these and ever since I've been a bit twitchy about hydrogen embrittlement.
Deep down I'm sure they were fine but i couldn't shake it from my doubts and...
Turbo Testing
As said previously i was hoping to drive some turbocharged Clios this morning and thanks to some very generous owners, i was allowed a go in a pair of them.
Car 1)
This was a low boost 182 setup running approx. 240bhp on stock engine & gearbox. (7psi)
Boost controlled to...
Have to say another huge thanks to Alex @ AW Motorworks for fitting a pair of brand new driveshafts and poly boots in WZD this morning... and yet more gearbox oil. Its 5th lot of oil in the last 9 months Haha. Needless to say the gearbox oil was a clean as it went in.
I had a noise that i...
Well 250 Euros for the pair of crap rear mild steel plates.
I might get some laser cut in stainless, we'll see. As long as they hold the exhaust up and are pretty enough, they will do.
The clamp i will find, but i'll have to do that once i see the system, would have been nice to get a part...
Anyone happen to know what size the v band clamp is at the back or even better a part number for it?
I need to source one. I'll go direct but firstly they charge an arm and a leg for anything (the 2 rear mounts are £250 and they're crappy mild steel with BMW X5 rubbers). Secondly, they don't...
So finally nabbed some time to fit the black seatbelts and remove the rear bench. Black belts are standard equipment in almost all cars yet i really think they look better in here. The rear bench was never used even with the OEM seats in place, and absolutely cannot be accessed with the Pole...
So she’s started getting grumpy on cold start and developed a cold misfire that clears within a few hundred yds.
Only on cold start, so wonder if this is an injector or temp sender going down.
She’s knocking on 125k now so either way I thought she could use a fresh set.
So fitted 4 new plugs...
For a 5 hour journey mate i would just get it done locally and cut your losses. Then flog the system and get something else that's of higher quality. If the cars a keeper for you then you will never look back and wish you had spent less.
That looks really poor.
What exhaust is it?
This is my BTM?Yozasport system which has been on my car for 7 years and approx. 60k miles.
I did have to have a mount welded last year as it just started to fatigue and i had it plated to repair.
Well that’s the pads properly bedded in and heat cycled. They’re no longer yellow anyway. Ha.
Obviously not put them on track yet but the initial impressions were exactly as I was expecting. Good bite, solid pedal and loads of feel. Finally have brakes that inspire confidence when pressing on...
That’s a great result mate. I really want to get mine to Andy for some timing and maybe have Alex set the timing to group N spec beforehand. Even if just for the added drivability it’s got to be worth it.
Which is why I did it in the early hours after late shift last night. I have a local A road that runs between 2 roundabouts and is about 8 miles long.
I agree, the times acceptable to be able to do that are few and far between.
I followed it to the letter though and drove home after almost...
It is more than a Miltek, but put then if you want the best off the peg system for a Clio then that's what it costs i guess.
Still think id rather take mine to Matt @ Simpson Race Exhausts and have him make one. It would be more then the Orb but it will be a different league of quality again...
