F4R 738 engine & gearbox on eBay £1000.
This would have seemed expense a few years ago, but used parts prices seem to be tracking Trophy values & 182 breakers are a dwindling resource.

To me, the great shame of it is that it is quite possible that the car will never be driven as it should be again, putting a smile on the drivers face.
Just seems a waste of one of the most enjoyable NA hot hatches.
Perhaps I should buy this and hide it away as a future museum piece.

Well it`s up to £11,100 now.
I find it strange that it has not been presented as a refurbished, ready to use car.
Also No 148 has never been on the owner register on here.
So that`s how they do these tyre tests, brand new & 3 quick laps.
The only tyre in that test I can comment on from personal use is the Avon ZV7.
When new, they suffer from tread block movement due to the high depth of tread, but improve as they wear past 3k miles.
I would like to see the same...

These Clio`s are extremely rot resistant, and there is a good chance this car could be saved.
83mm forged pistons are available, should a rebore be required.
I think you would find that they would scuff on the front arch liners when pushed hard.
Running 15" inch OZ F1`s from a Ph1 172 would allow you to run 195/50R15 PS3`s, which are still available.
The rolling circumference is the same as 205/45R16, so would not alter the gearing...

An excellent spot, the remote reservoir can be clearly seen between the 2 wheel spokes at 12.35 & 13.35.

This was the original fitment on 172`s, with the same 7J rim width.
Having tried 205 & 195, the 205`s have a tendency to tramline to a greater degree.
As said , 195 does not offer up a greater choice of tyres.
These the other option, if you have deep pockets.
Not sure you will get the best from them on OE spring rates.

I could not see that detail in the pictures, though I noticed that the left hand front tyre was Pzero and the rear a Continental.
If you can`t fit a full set, go home!

I took this to mean Sachs (OE) front dampers with Mark Fish springs, but you are probably correct that OE dampers refers to 182...
If your intended future use is to continue with 2,500 summer miles a year, my choice would be 4 Rainsport 5`s in XL 67W.
If you rotate front to back at 4,000 miles and get them rebalanced at the same time, you should see 3 years out of them.
