Great stuff, they would be a great car to try in another few years when or if,
good old depreciation does its thing.
But so far, they seem to be nearly immune to losing money.
That probably says a lot about them, they are still held in very high regard.
Could be a good buy for someone in Ireland as they will have far less import taxes/Vat to pay
since it was in NI before (I'm guessing) Brexit happened.
Yeah I sort of get the feeling CC has lost a bit of its lustre this last while alright.
It seems it has become a very competitive market place, between the more traditional
auction companies/houses and I've also seen another new venture called CarHuna that is
about to launch now soon as well.
I...
Now that you say it Nick, I think those pictures were from a dealer based in Lisburn.
I went to see a Trophy, probably 6/7 years ago and it only had around 16k miles and
his back yard looked very similar to the one in those pictures, with the high walls.
Not to appear completely down on their trade but bodyshops do appear to
be very hit and miss alright.
I've asked people I would trust about recommending bodyshops, some have been
as described while others have done a half arsed job.
It just seems you get either a decent/good result or a bad...
At least you have a good group of lads who you can trust to do a proper job on the car Nick ;)
Thats another thing that you have to deal with when restoring/working on a car...
finding someone you can trust and hope they will do a good job.
Bodyshops/Painters especially, bloody nightmare, most...
In me experience (admittedly limited...) I think when it comes down to it, to restore a car properly now is just
a never ending hole for money.
Even more so when that restoration needs what are now some very rare and hard to get, ie expensive parts
to do the car right.
Even with the huge price...
If that original purchase price is correct...Jesus that is serious profit Nick.
Fair play to the seller, with the added bonus of not having to pay commission.
But I'd be thinking, what else could that sort of money have bought, or even a
few different cars....
I cant claim to have been in or driven many great drivers cars but I fully agree with you,
the Recaro's in the DC2 and pretty much every JDM Type-R especially, are just brilliant.
My brother had a few EK9's back in the day and it was a very special little car as well.
At least if you get an...
Clio is looking very well.
Seeing that Mini is bringing back some very painful and expensive memories,
I don't envy you on that one ;)
Being an Innocenti, I'm guessing it came from Italy, so there might have been a bit less rust and rot to deal with
compared to a home market car...hopefully.
Just seen that 970 S,yeah that seems like a great price for what is essentially a fully restored car.
And as you said, they usually go for a lot more than the £38k this one went for.
Colour really suits it as well.
Looking at some of the other results,I think the V8 Esprit went for what looks like a bargain £31,500.
I would have guessed £50k+ on something like that.
They seem to sort of go under the radar though, unless its something like the Sport 350 or GT3.
There was some stunning cars in that auction but Jesus, some of the prices!!
I was watching it live online when that RS500 went for that figure, seems the real trick to driving prices to that level is to have someone in the Middle East bidding 😉
That Fiat Stradale was just stunning, not surprised...
I think you can be pretty sure your not going to be meeting too many of them on the roads.
Probably the last of the breed in relation to bonkers, stripped out, throw everything at it,hooligan hatches...unfortunately.
Thanks for that information Nick,I'll try and take a better look at Duscovery + later on.
If I was in your position Nick, with cars like that being offered to me...I'd be in the poor house!!
It would be damn hard to control and stop your petrol head from completely taking over 🙈😂😂
Sorry Nick, that link isn't working for me for some reason.
It would be great to pay visit and take a look at even a fraction of some of those very
fine cars you all have over there.
Just curious Nick, are you seeing more "nice" cars coming in for trades and out of storage for sale,
compared...
That just proves to me that I'm definitely hanging out with the wrong sort of friends Nick 😂😂
Wow what a stunning pair of cars.
That E-Type is just stunning, always loved bold coloured interiors when the exterior is more muted.
I'm basing this on driving my brothers EK9 way back in the mid 2000's so my memories might not be 100% correct 😉
I loved driving it at the time.
It was the sort of car that never seemed playful or would cock a wheel or start stepping out on you,it always seemed very much a track biased setup.As...
