So we are coming up on the “selling season” Where do you all think we are regarding prices?

Mmmm, yes but good ones have been at that price for a while now. It seems pretty static to me, apart from the fight over the one on CC that is And without Forbes that would have stalled much earlier. There doesn’t seem to have been a rush to sell after that, the two on eBay have not moved for weeks (one now withdrawn and reduced) the other CC car actually sold at a loss to the seller several months after they bought it there. The Ktec one? Forbes‘ very nice one didn’t sell. There seem to have been a couple on here that have sold but at what price and also James has offered the Rolex (£12k?)for one but that will need to be a pretty good example.

I think prices have plateaued at the moment, maybe with the odd outlier here and there. There doesn't appear to have been a particularly significant shift over recent months.

Anyone have a idea what a 1 owner car is worth with 83k - needs work and looks like a barn find.
Number 63 and bought new from Sunwin Renault Bradford - never had paint and still has genuine dealer plates fitted

From a recent buyers perspective it is becoming increasingly difficult to find cars in good original condition without Moon mileage.
The best cars will now sell to fellow enthusiasts privately or auction sites where investors will dive in.
The 182 Trophy is at a price point still low enough for someone who wants a second/third car to scratch an itch ,enjoy for a year or two and move on to something else and not lose out.
The danger in all this modern classic hype we are seeing right now could push values of our little red cars beyond the reach of enthusiasts and the investors have run out of puff but have hidden them all away.
Im keeping mine.

What merits a good car these days?

Sub 60k? Low owner numbers with good service history, all the “Trophy” parts in place that “looks“ well cared for. Lots of caveats to that and most is flexible and dependant on what the buyer considers worth it. Recent example of that was the £12k CC car which had a “few” issues.

What do you class as low owners - one on Collecting Cars was a 6 owner car - one I’ve just acquired has 1 registered keeper on the V5. Not in my name as unsure what I'm doing yet with the car.

Well it goes without saying that a one or two owner car is pretty low. I guess the idea is that low owner numbers mean that those owners have kept them for longer and are more invested in keeping them in good condition, doesn’t always follow of course.

There can't be too many low owner cars about now I'd have thought.

just contemplating what to do at the minute - came from a late 60s Gentleman who bought it new for £12990 - does need bringing back to it’s former glory and I’m not a mechanic or handy at things like this.
I’ve been quoted £500 to bring the bodywork back plus a dent man - wheels need blasting and repainting and a front lower spoiler.

I’ve just insured my 49K miles owned from new, standard parts T for £12K agreed value. Although I suspect it’s more like a £15K car nowadays.

I’d say a lot more than 12k bearing in mind the CC car did £12250 plus a 5% buyers fee - nearly 13k and it still had 6 owners to your 1 - no comparison really.

So many ways to look at analyse number of owners. Sometimes more owners who have all got the car and then ploughed cash into it might be better. As many folks often do the big spends straightaway.

I would almost advise now on buying on how complete the car is. Paint can be painted, gearboxes refreshed but washer blanks and new wheels ain’t that easy to find.

I would probably like to keep an amount In The bank for paint now. As many are looking tired in that dept.

I agree CC is a good benchmark of real world prices, because it’s published/open market and actual sales.

I have looked back for my own interest, without digging into each listing (but will be difference in ownership etc) but all appear well presented cars;

61k miles - £12.2k
94k miles - £8.2k
107k miles - £5.8k
112K miles - £7k
163k miles - £4K
93k miles - £8k
49k miles -£11.3k
120k miles - £7k

(Plus 6% buyers premiums)

personally I think the one at £12k was an anomaly but I don’t know the detail. But all the above were ready to go useable. Obviously some different in standard and presentation, but In principle right history. Documented sachs refresh, the right services, water pump/belts/phaser/pulley replaced etc. So I guess sensible benchmarks.

Looking as a buyer I think trophy average in the £5-10k bracket overall with the majority being nearer the £10k than the £5k. With the “exceptions” that will come up above / below.

There is the dealer car for £16.5 with 43k miles but I haven’t seen the market rush towards it. And as mentioned a couple “nice” cars with higher miles in the £7k space on eBay that are to sell and seem to be hovering. Though one appears to of lost its recaros along the way which is clearly a factor in finding a buyer.

I could be way out - categorically no expert, but as someone looking that’s been my outlook.
