Hello fellow Trophy fans.

When the Trophy was voted the best hot hatch ever on Pistonheads a few months ago, I was asked by them to explain how it came about, as I was one of the three people responsible for its creation back when I was the PR Manager for Renault UK between 1994 and 2007.
Pistonheads have posted the article today.

I have written a longer version of its creation which I could supply to the site organisers if you wish to put it as a sticky post somewhere along with other general information about the car?

Now all I need to do is find a really good example to keep of my own and then I could meet you on the Welsh Weekender;)

Happy Trophy motoring

Just read that on Pistonheads.

I would love to read the longer article.

Congrats on developing the Trophy in the first place, maybe someday I'll be able to sample one...

Yes Graeme, an inspirational creation and what a way to sign off the epic 182. I'll suggest to Nik to sticky the full article..

If you still have any influence at Reno, then I'd suggest they should be continuing to support the model by allowing parts to be remade i.e. their user licenses need to expire if they stop supplying parts.

Great stuff, Graeme!

I would also be very interested in reading the longer version along with the other general information. Thanks for making the Trophy a reality!

Cheers! :)

Great article Graeme, and some fresh writing there, even learnt a thing or two!

I added my tribute to XOG (298/500) to the comments. Something I've been meaning to do since 2014, but it was too painful!

Any of the old guard still on here? Cue - do you still own one?

Hey, there you are, can't believe you've still got it, that's great. You must be one of the few original owners. Have you kept the permagard up? I remember that we were the only two Trophy's that were more red than orange. 14 years ago, ouch!

I'd have liked to have had it redone, but they've stopped doing cars now - and I'm down to the last drops of the little top up pots :(

But that said, when she gets a drizzle of water, she come up like brand new still - was a great investment lol

Big respect Graeme!

Thanks for making a true great! I've had several performance cars over the last 5 years since selling 193; I'm happily back in one again now :)

Great work with the article; I'm also keen to read the full version / have as a sticky (y)

Good luck with your search for one!

Brilliant read and would love to read the longer version and as said if you still have any sway within renault please ask for a bit of support as we cant get the things that make this model so special from renault anymore.
