A while back I clipped my wing mirror reversing into a garage. Split a big chunk out of the black plastic moulding part of the mirror – the red housing, mirror and works are all fine. Like a fool I didn’t retrieve the missing pieces otherwise I’d glue them back in. Is replacing the black moulding, or complete mirror come to that, a diy job? How difficult is it?

Depending what parts you may be able to get your hands on.......i.e breakers rather than dealer, you could get just the black bit and put the red back on to it. Everything just push fits together. Someone caught the back of my mirror on the side of the road, luckily it just all popped apart and I just clicked it back together.....what a relief! If you are any good with your hands it wouldn't be too difficult to do even a complete unit.

Thanks for that – you’ve encouraged me to try and DIY it.
