well the car has been off the road for weeks and it was taken away for some issues sorted.
It was firstly sent away to Pro Tek (Bodyshop) to get the roof fixed after the original job was done badly.

Going back 4 years ago i was working in town and when finishing work at around 4am i came out to find that someone had smashed a wine bottle on the roof of the car. The car was then went to get the roof fully repaired but it turned out to be a bad repair.

The finished roof

The car was then sent to SWR in stirling who are Renault Specialists and who have looked after the car since i have owned it.
I had a bad knocking from my suspension so after it turning out to be the AST top mounts i bought new bearings for them.
Turns out the bearings are seized in the top mount and i can't get the new ones to fit until i get the old ones out so i bought new OE reanult top mounts with spacing washer and got them fitted.

As you can see here is the black part of the AST bearing that is seized so i can't get the old bearing out.

Next up was my exhaust that was really annoying me, The car has got the MK1 yozza sport CAT back system and one i bought the car the exhaust was sitting under the rear bumper as pictured.

I then got it sorted a few years ago but then after fitting new mounts it was now sticking out far too much as once again pictured.

So knowing that one of the guys at SWR in stirling can wield with MIG & TIG and is sh*t hot at it i got them to sort my exhaust and stop it sticking out too much.
These are not the best pictures but the tail pipes now sit perfectly flush with the back bumper.

Next up was to get the Brembo calipers fitted.
I got these refurbished and powder coated in Red, Then up was to buy the parts needed which i got really cheap and only paid £16+vat for the front brembo pads and £6+vat for the fitting kit.

Went for 300mm grooved discs and the Pure Motorsport brackets.

When fitting these the Prima Racing wheels would not go over the calipers due to the wheel itself so i went back to the speedliness.

Here is the lip where the brembos can't go over.

Here is the discs and calipers on the car.

And the speedline back on.

There has been a lot of discussion about the pads not meeting the full surface of the discs but as its been said it's because there's more swept area available on the 300mm scenic discs and the 197 pads aren't deep enough basically. Makes them look odd.

It has nothing to do with the caliper being mounted wrong or the brackets etc - that's just how they look on 300mm opposed to the 280's.

I have also done a swap with the Prima Racing alloys for these.

Small update on the brembos.

As it has been said the 197/200 Pad dies not fill the 300mm disc so there was a "rusty ring" round the inside of the disc.
tonight before nipping along to the local scottish meet i decided to sort this out and give the calipers a quick clean.
All i had laying about was some dodo juice lime prime polish and then some anglewax alloy wheel wax so used that.

That looks superb :) I was thinking of getting an aftermarket wheel but that looks too good.

Had the car out on sunday for an hour, done under 15miles and gave it a good wash and dry.

I'm still trying various products to get mine back to factory finish, think I've sorted it with a brash rotary brush in a Dremel

Lovely as ever mark,
Is it totally impossible to get the calipers closer in? As I am sure you know the 280mm converstion requires the calipers to have approx 5mm removed to bring it inward. I assume the outer of the pad isn't hanging over the disc.

got the indentical wheel. Totally agree the Center tab seems like a great idea. But the wheel looks much more OEM without it.

personal preference as ever, your car is mint... But I think would look better with the old renault badge on the back.. Not a fan of the mk3 ones myself.

Hi Buddy,

The Topic has been talked about and for some reason with 300mm discs using the 197/200 or Meg 225 brembos the 197 pad does not cover the whole disc.
There was no way i was messing about shaving calipers and taking stuff of them, The breaking power is very good, only down side is the pedal travel is a little more takes some getting used to.

As for the centre band on the wheel its one thing i was not doing, i don't think it looks right and if the tracking was ever out or it was not sitting bang in the middle it would annoy me.

As for the badge i 100% prefer the new style badge, i think it finishes the back of the car off rather than having the huge renault slab.

Here is a response about the brembo's and also a picture of someone else fitting them with 300mm discs.

Master cyclinder and rear brake restrictive next

One ne reason I have delayed my 283mm rota and bell setup is I don't want the longer pedal travel.. More parts/money/time needed.

Well after some hunting for ages a few good people pointed me in the right direction to @RyG and he was kind enough to have a standard OE 182 back box that he was wiling to fire up to me. It did need little work but that was not an issue.

So got the standard exhaust and then sent it away for a sand blasting, Once sand blasted it was then sorted with chemical metal and then spray painted with some high temp paint. Once all dried it was then rubbed down and sanded and then re-painted.

Within days i could not believe my luck when a genuine OE centre section showed up on eBay so once again thanks to @JP83 who bought it for me, collected it in person and posted it to my front door.
Once again this was sand blasted and in good condition so it got a paint once again with high temp paint.

There is only 2 issues i now hand and that is that i need one tiny small bolt which @RyG is going to sort me out with and i need a couple of new exhaust mounts at the rear as my power flex poly bush ones have the whole in the wrong part and its slightly sitting off.

Its so so quiet compared to the Yozza and I'm happy that its now on the car.

Here is a few pictures.

Never understood why anyone changed the exhaust from original. Weight saving and performance perhaps, but no benefits out weigh the resulting booming noise and boy racer image.
