Red_Beastie, I did call them as soon as I got back, but they have to get them France, so I'm driving round with those on whilst waiting for them.

I'm led to believe by the guys at Renault that the Trophy ones are distinct from both std 182 & cup variants...

Now I'm confused, so is the part no. In the first post on this thread wrong and ur saying there the same as the cups not the 182 however earlier in the thread someone said Reno fitted them cup ones which were wrong and had them changed to 182 dampers.

I don't know wot to believe lol

I would guess they fitted the cup packed 182 dampers rather than the 182 cup dampers, as the Trophy is just a 182 cup with posh suspension on the front.

Forgive me if I'm being stupid, but wots the difference between the cup packed 182 dampers and the 182 cup dampers ?

Just to answer a question from earlier... BOTH (original) rear dampers carry the part number 8200 519 954.

When I called Renault they gave me a different part number saying their system said the trophy should have the cup dampers i.e. the cup dampers have the different part number.

I've ordered 2 * 8200 519 954 dampers, which are being fitted tomorrow. Will report back if they definitely supply the same parts and if the car seems to handle the same.

I've just noticed Ktec are selling OEM rear dampers for 172/172cup/182 and a separate item listed for the 182 cup there both black if the pics are correct and they only cost £57.60 including vat so I'm guessing none of them are correct for the trophy.
I've mailed them to find out.

From everything I've found out so far, the conclusion I've come to is that the trophy rear dampers ARE indeed different to that of the 182 sport and the 182 cup as they are black, don't have the sachs label on, are less than half the price and they have different part numbers to the trophy ones. When you go to reno for new trophy rear dampers, there parts system lists the cup spec dampers for the trophy which is incorrect and is a different part number from the original trophy damper part number which is 8200 519 954.

Think the reason why they list the cup dampers when you go to most Renault dealerships is the they assume the trophy has the exteme handling pack (aka cup chassis) and select that after putting the reg. number in. This is what guy at dealer said after finding right part number :)

I'm not sure what the confusion is here, we all have the part number its on the squashy things underneath the car at the back. They are not the same as on any of the other 1*2 variants as none of those are Sachs. Some "may" have the same spec but unless you get them tested no one is going to know. If you want the same or similar handling order the proper units from Reno or get the Koni.

Managed to get 2 rear Sachs dampers for £65 each posted. Brand spankers so cannot wait to get them fitted!

Amazing what you can find ringing around a few dealers ;-)

How u manage that Ive just been down to the stealers, asked for price for rear dampers, just gave them reg number and they gave me the price of the cup ones which were 68 each. When I gave him the correct part number they were 136.65 each. I asked him for a price for the fronts which is when he found out when he puts the reg in it asks if it has the extreme handling pack in other words cup pack, they assume the trophy suspension is the extreme pack, it was only when he click no that it listed the trophy suspension.
For reference the fronts are sided and the part numbers are :
8200 514 733 and 8200 514 734 and they cost £1426.82 each including vat.

Also interested in how you get on as I've just found that website. The cynic in me says they'll be normal Cup rear dampers, but really hope I'm wrong!

The dealers emailed me saying the dampers were not for my car and said I needed special ones! They then sent me a picture of the new damper..........

Have ordered a few bits from them before including an aux belt kit for near on £50 + postage!

To save anyone else the trouble, I contacted this seller (Allen Ford in Northampton) and they said these were an obsolete pair sitting on the shelves and were sold yesterday.
They could only get more at the full RRP of around £140 (or maybe it was £114) plus VAT.

Well done Bearne1. The power of Google eh!
