Got it, knew it was a Conti Sport Contact of some sort. Do you know if there is a huge difference between SC2 and SC3? Perhaps in the same way there is between PE2 and PS3...

Gordon, I think there is a fair difference. The CSC3 won most of the group tests it was in and is considered one of the best of the high end road tyres (although I think there is now a CSC5).
I also considered CSC2 but when I have looked at reviews, they were mixed at best. Have a look on: http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Continental/Sport-Contact-2.htm

Thanks for the link. Having read the reviews of the Conti SC2 and the Mich PS3, a lot of people seemed to have switched from the Conti SC2 to the PS3 and all claimed the PS3 far superior.

Unsurprisingly the person that swapped from PE2 to PS3 was pretty negative....

Which is why I am planning on switching to Turbines and 15" PE2s all round when my current front PS3s need changing. Still on about 4mm though.

I expect you've read the thread 2118's then. Will-i-ams went to 15's to keep using the PE2. Would you go with the 195/50 or 205/50 size though? 205 keeps everything pretty spot on concerning rolling circumference etc but they are as expensive as a 205/45 R16 PE2.

That's a tough call. I must say I am tempted by 195/50/15.
It's a shame that they stopped making them in 205 45 16. Lack of demand I assume given that they have continued to offer them in other sizes.
It would be interesting if someone could actually hook up a sat nav to see the speed differential between the sat nav/GPS and the speedometer with 195/50/15s. The speedos are usually not that accurate from the factory!

It's a huge shame, yet it's odd they have ceased production. That size was OEM on all 182's, not just the Trophy. The 182 moved to a 16" wheel, so there should be plenty of demand. I expect the size fits a few other cars too.

If you take a look at the 2118 thread you'll see I used an online calculator (there's a link to it) to work out possible variations and inaccuracies of differing tyre sizes. There is a larger variation in reading when using the 195/50 R15 than the 205/50 R15.

Well just fitted another 2 PS3s on the front. Better the devil you know and all that.

Jacked them up to 36psi front. Might go higher and experiment.

What's the max psi? :D
