Saw a thing on BBC news this morning, 600 people in California, and a similar number in Australia who are registered blind, but thanks to some cunning glasses, have got their licenses back:

Nothing against it in principal, I'm all for adapting cars to accomodate disability, but the simulation shown on the beeb this morning indicated the drivers view. Rather worryingly, there was a huge blur with a tiny spot of clarity in the middle.

How much loss of vision do you think you should have before they take your keys off you?

Good question, It should just be down to a simple mini driving test I think. The same with OAP's, reach a certain age and you should be retested, the amount of times i've nearly had an accident due to a bumbling old man/woman is in the thousands.

My previous car, 3 series bmw, I'd had it 3 days and was forced to mount a large pavement with sharp edges, curbing my alloys because an old woman in her volvo decided she wanted to drive down the middle of a road that day.
