Could someone advise me please on running in the car. Also what is max cruising number of rpm and corresponding speed after running in without knackering engine. I have only seen 0 to 60 time. Does anyone know other stats such as 0 to 100mph? What petrol normal or 98. Any info would be useful. Questions Questions just want to get to know car!!

This website is reffered to by quite a few of the other renaultsport specialist forums: http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm

I aked my local dealer about this and he said the same thing. The guy was only a saleman, but he drives a full fat 182 every day and swears it 'ups' the power.

Still unsure what to do when I get mine.

As for 0-60 times.... well, the official times are done with a full tank of petrol and the equivalent weight of 2 people onboard. EVO magazine quote 6.5 seconds - which is probably closer to what you could get if you are the only person in the car. They show the regular (full fat) 182 as doing 0-100 in 17.5 seconds.

Essex for my sins.
What most of us have done in the Trophys is to run them in slowly for the first 500 miles and then start winding the power untill you hit 1000k. What i have done is for the first 500miles try to keep the revs below 4500rpm after 500m i then started to let the revs rise to 6000ish.

Common sense is the best form of breaking a new car in, let it warm up and dont put to much stress on the car.

Mine feels alot more responsive now, just got to get out on the tracks to really abuse it

Blimey you can tell i've come from a Diesel. I've kept them below 3000k for the first 500 miles, i had a little go up to 4,500k this morning on the way home from work. I'll probably take it 5,500 tonigh, as my dad wants to have a go.
I agree with steve, they do feel a bit more responsive after a while. Whether i'm just getting used to it now. I love it.

Thanks for the AutoTune article, DieHard. Interesting stuff. Is that why salesmen rarely tell you to worry about running it in now?
Certainly with my last two cars I was told running it in wasn't really needed for the engine, but to give it a couple of hundred gentle miles for the brakes and tyres.
