So while having my Trophy serviced the below was discovered on the passenger side drive shaft, unfortunately it seems Renault in there infinite wisdom no longer produce the repair kit so the only option if to replace the whole driveshaft! Any help/ideas or better still anyone with one of the kits (or know where I can obtain one) gratefully received.

Regards

That seems very unlikely as it's one of the things that does go with age etc but nothing would surprise me at Renault, i don't know any better but personally i'd be calling around.

I know when mine went they replaced the whole shaft, but that was under warranty so I was happy.

Worth calling around specialists or scrap yards.

Sounds like rubbish, my CV boot was ripped off a while back and the garage just replaced it confirming that the driveshaft was still fine. It only needs changing if it is damaged through not having sufficent lubrication, i.e. the need for the boot. I'd get to the scappers mate.

P.S I don't use a Renault dealer, if I wanted to pay through the nose for poor service I would invest in Northern Rock

This wasn't through Renault , my car has never (and in my hands) will never visit a Renault dealer.

mine was leaking slightly, dont think as much as yours but to be honest I never looked as mark fish told me about it and then I booked it in a my dealer. Have been told it is a common problem for that side of the car. I have a good relationship with my Renault dealer and cant beat there price or service for the record. Depending where you live in Kent it might be worth giving them a call if your still under warranty.

Unfortunately not, and it will be a relatively recent thing as the car had a check over to catch things not unlike this before it run out *sigh*

The best thing would probably go to your local renault and enquire at the renault parts desk if they have one, they will probably need to order one in as they dont hold parts for the sport models.

Thats now my plan, I have heard that just re packing with grease and a new clip might help.

any luck with the drive shaft? made an enquirey with a renault parts dealer and think you are right, he can only get hold of the full driveshaft, how rubbish is that, there are some second hand driveshafts going on ebay atm.
