I had my belts done in April at northwest, my T is now in a garage with a broken engine. :(

Anything to do with the belts though?! If so, shouldn't you be having a conversation with them?

Used Them for 6 years for all work on my car cambelts etc 110% recommend them to anyone. If you follow the Clio cup series you will know who they are !! :D

Any idea on prices?

IIRC they were charging
£250 aircon cars + cambelt and aux kit (gates or gen renault depends what you want ?)
£200 no aircon + cambelt and aux kit (gates or gen renault depends what you want ?)

If you ring Lee he will confirm VERY helpful guy .

Then again its not all about the cheapest job when it comes to cambelts :)

So you think it was a shoddy service that caused your problems? It was odd that just cleaning the t/b would kill your car.
Well the problem i'm told is that the belt wasn't tight enough, it slipped and has bent the valves. According to the garage my t's at now anyway.

Presume the previous garage are paying for the repair? If not, get on the phone to a solictor.

I wish that was the case, but unfortunatly i took it to get it looked at at my local garage, and they've changed the belt etc , so it's unlikley NW will touch it now. So i'm in a catch 22 situation.
I'd rather have been told that the belt had slipped prior to them changing the belt, so then i could've gone back to NW, and i'm sure they would've took it, but i wasn't given that option unfortuatley.

For the north east owners i can recommend mickleton service station.

£480 ish iirc.

It's in the middle of nowhere but they know their clios (race them i believe) and you get a courtesy car with garfield stickers on it

For the Welsh lot, I just had Cam Belt /Aux Belt / 5 Year service done at AP Developments, a Renault specialist in Ystradgynlais near Swansea.

Paid £650 plus an extra £45 on top to fit brake pads I supplied. Craig did a top job and the T is now running sweet as a nut.

Maybe I spoke too soon. Went out to disable the interior sensors earlier and when reversing the car up onto my drive, the car felt really lumpy. Took it out for a quick spin to warm it up as it hasn't moved since Sunday, but it got progressively worse and then the engine management warning light started flashing. Had to limp back to the house and now I daren't not move it again.

Any ideas?

Hi

just had mine done today by Danny near Bedford at

http://www.519automotive.co.uk/

Did cambelt and aux kits for £400 all in.

I watched him do the work - he sure knows his stuff.

Also sorted out a couple of other things he spotted for a nominal charge.

I would highly recommend him and will use him again.

£400?????????????? that's incredibly cheap, that hardly covers the cost of Reno parts surely?

that's been my special offer price for october. Normally £436 with a non genuine cambelt kit (with warranty) and genuine aux belt kit. Can be upgraded to genuine cambelt kit for £54

they're more than that Mat. the Aux kit is £139 and the cambelt kit as around £160 (roughly), then you need cam blanking plugs at £15 for the pair (which all aftermarket kits include)

......which makes it even more of a bargain. ( I chose not to pay an extra £54 for exactly the same kit made by the same manufacturer but without the Renault Logo on - the car is 2 years out of warranty after all... and Dan offers a warranty with both the kit and his work.

See this for more info.

Thats the price i was quoted a couple of weeks ago at my local renualt,
Aux : £118.40 - 15% + vat.
Cam : £144.63 - 15% + vat.

Yes, i did forget the plugs though.

Got my timing tools from them today too.
