Evening all,

As some of you may have seen i have recently acquired #289/500.

i have seen some guys doing a thread about their vehicle and what they would want to achieve on it - so i thought i would do the same and hoepfully get some advice along the way.

today was the first chance i have had a decent look over the car and given it a decent wash (which i always thinks help you get to know your cars cosmetic bad points and good)

so my 'to do list' is as follows:

new steering wheel or re -furbed.
Faded door handles
No working front fogs
connection issue at the rear with the brakes/indicators turn the rear fog lights on
usual bonnet issues with stone chips
aux for radio
wheels re-furbed
wing mirror covers sprayed and repair due to small crack in one
new mats
new gear stick top
new heater dash due to cracking
new headlights as current are all crappy - tried the tootpaste trick but no expecting that to be a long term solution

these are the ones that i have highlighted now but hoping not to find to many other things.

next weekend its booked in for a full inspection and major service (although minor was done earlier this year).

any tips or advice is greatly appreciated.

attached a few pics from early this morning :)

thanks,
AJH

You don't see many with the original exhausts these days. Nice looking Trophy.

Looks sweet mate. Try one of those 3M headlight re-furb kits, takes about 45 mins a side then seal with G4, results are great ;-).

Morning all,

I have just have my first set of work undertaken on the trophy to the tune of 700 quid. slightly more than i had expected but i made a promise to myself and the car that i would do what i can to keep it on the road running and looking sweet.

it's had a full 'big' service, all filters, oils, plugs etc done.

i needed a new battery, new exhaust mounts, cat, Lambada sensor, pas (power steering switch)

still have a long way to go and a lot on my original list i would like to achieve. i need to try and work out the history around the dampers as they might need a refurb (i cant tell if they do or dont)

all in all the ownership to date has been very enjoyable the few times i have given it a good run.

more to follow,
AJH

Hi, if the dampers were knackerd, a bounce test, and maybe the wheel off to check for leaks, otherwise I would leave them well alone

morning - after only driving this awesome car for 5 months and only covered under 500 miles i am feeling it might be better off in someone elses hands....... my first baby is due in 7 weeks and i got this car to enjoy and spend time on minor improvements and keeping her sparkling clean at weekends - not sure if i will have as much time as a car like this deserves.

some recent interest has made me think about the sale........ i am fine with keeping the car however it will just sit there (which might not be a bad thing looking at the prices rising) so i am hurry to sell.

heres some basic info on the trophy:

2 previous owners
85,500 miles approx.
FSH
general condition is great for a 10 year old car and just has the normal road use related marks.
completely standard inc. exhaust

recent service @ 850 quid total cost - highlights
major service
plugs
supertracker alignment
pas switch
rear caliper covers
full new exhaust mount kit
battery
new cat
oils
filters

this got the car into a great mechanical order with minor bits left to do -
boot struts
heater panel
steering wheel (i have one to be re furbed )

the guys that undertook the service are renaultsport specialists based in kent and they have gone over the sachs and given the ok that they do not need to be refurbed. previous history i have doesnt suggest that they where done but as people will say if there ok dont touch em.

all in all a great car.

i am looking for around the 5,850 mark - as i said i happy to keep so there isnt much room in that price and given what else is out there i think this is on point.

you can see pics earlier in the thread but pm, should you wish anymnore info.

i am not advertising elsewhere yet and i am sure i'll get some feedback here so i'll see what comes up.

best,
ajh

hi,

so if you read some of my previous posts there was a time that i was looking to sell...... needless to say i have opted to keep the trophy.

with the arrival of the baby has meant i had some time off to 'tinker' about for a couple hours here and there.

so since my last update i have undertook the following:

paintwork all sorted in terms of 'pinking' handles etc. the stone chips of note on the front have been taken care of. all in all looking a ton better.

i had some issues with cleaning the headlights up to get a pristine look so i just bought new ones with black inserts - a bitch to change due to some built up rust on the bolts and screw heads but with some hard graft everything came off and new headlights inserted.
this has been the best 'mod' i have made to-date and i think really bought the car to life and gave a revitalised look.

in addition to the new headlights i have upgraded all bulbs and gone for the deniderm blinker bulbs which look the nuts over standard orange.

i have replaced all the wheel nuts from standard with black TPI bolts..... the rusty old ones really affected the look and these new bolts look wicked.

aux cable installed.

scorpion decat installed which has been very good in terms of performance with no spike in power when you get to around 4500k revs.

new gear stick top - in red.

wheels refurbed

cleaning

seat belt cleaning - soaking etc.

snow foam
'obliTARate' used to remove all road grime.
full waxing - auto finesse tripple
trim restorer - Gtechniq C4

i would like to find some time to have a good crack of cleaning the inside and i'll hopefully find the time soon.

bits i would like to achieve soon are -
heater panel replacement
new exhaust?? not sure just yet.
refurbed steering wheel
new mats
refurbed calipers
buy a second pair of sachs (i hope :) )

here are some pics of my most recent endeavours
