Heard a rumor that if you plug a Fault Code Reader in and cancel the emissions light (de-cat) it will go off and stay off? is this true? I would figure it would just come back on again after XXX-miles, does anyone have an informed insight or better a code reader (southampton way)?

What is a trophy worth in bits? The car in question is completely standard with engine failure Dampers are fine, one wheel has a kerb mark that I can see and the mileage is 65-70k miles. I'm informed the gearbox is fine and the recaro's are in mint condition, any help is appreciated
