Glad you got it sorted Ben, when's your next track day then? Let me know..... :D
When I had my dampers done before I sold up I noticed a CV boot clip had come off, must be a common fault.
How have they been looked after?
I'd be absolutely amazed if a motorsport damper did 70k without needing attention.
Mine had done less than half that mileage and one had pratically failed.
I think Trophys are amazing value compared to everything else out there, but they are only worth what...
With the greatest of respect I think your price is VERY optimistic without a new cam belt and damper re-furb.
I know as I've just sold mine with similar mileage, I had to take a serious reality check as to its market value.
Having said all that I hope you prove me wrong and get your asking price.
It's a sad day, I've sold my beloved Clio. I am 100% certain that when these cars are going up in value I'll kick myself for not tucking it up somewhere and borrowing the money I need off my old dear. Ho hum, needs must when the Devil drives, or something similar.
Cliotrophy is a great site and...
Have thought about going over to visit the factory but the cost would be an amount out of the total budget I have. Have seen the company's products in the UK so I know the quality is up to scratch.
Thanks Ben, I would love to keep her but it's not the responsible thing to do. I'll still be around to have another jaunt around Cumbria sometime, I'll bring my sat nav next time :D
Yeah, I'm just next to Crosshills in Sutton, although I keep my car in my Mother's garage in Crosshills.
I'm...
Thanks Felix, this time next year I'll either be doing really well or bankrupt.
Gorilla, I'm actually between Skipton and Keighley so just over the hill from you. The belts haven't been done but I've priced it accordingly, Don't work in Skipton and haven't seen one around here, not for a while...
Unfortunately I'm going to have to sell the car I had planned on keeping forever.
Due to a total change in career No.138 is for sale.
- 30,538 miles
- Registered August '05
- 1 previous owner
- Full service history
- Dampers refurbed by BG Motorsport mid August, covered roughly 500 miles...
I need to put 182 front suspension on as a stop gap while my Sachs are being serviced.
Has anyone got any or know the best place to get some?
Don't make me have to have a look on Cliosport :D
Cheers, Max.
ETA - There are some on Ebay for £40 each, does that sound about right?
Great photos Ben, loving the light coming through the tyre tread on one of them.
You can see the sidewalls flexing a lot on pics 9 and 15 (I think) like we talked about.
Give me a shout if you loook at booking Oulton.
Our '5 is going on the rollers a week on Sat so should be much more healthy...
Good morning,
The 182 that Renault quotes is PS, which is 179.5hp. I think some have got close to that at the flywheel, but getting that at the wheels would take some serious nouce and a lot of £s.
Cue someone who knows far more about it than I do....
Ha ha! Small world! I thought I'd seen you on there, you're looking for a FI '5?
Grandad is my Dad, we're in MX-5 ownership together, he's caused a good few 'heated' disscusions on there.
We were very interested in that car too, we planned to look at it the weekend it came up but it sold before...
A friend has bought one recently, I'm looking forward to going out in it. I don't like the image the Golf has but I know it will be a very nice car, suppose it's the compete package if you see what I mean.
Kitting a car for track work is bloody expensive, my Dad and went halfs on a '02 MX-5 early last year. At £3500 the car was a bit of a bargain as I got it from auction, since then we've spent around £5000 on making it a competant track car. It's quite scary how much a project can get carried...
I've had my Trophy for over 3 years now and I love it, it's the longest I've kept a car out of choice (I once had a 106 diesel for a lot longer when I was a poor student). When I'm being sensible I plan on keeping it forever as I truely think it will be a special motor in years to come, I...
Woohoo! Will be a great day.
I can see it now, your Trophy anihilating my MX-5 down the back straight.
I'm sure you'll have done this already Ben, but get on Youtube, good way to get a feel for the circuit.
Hiya Robbo :D I work in Keighley and live down the road in Crosshills, will keep an eye out for you.
Back on topic, I think the Trophy residuals have kept up amazingly well. Like many owners I've thought about changing
many, many, times but have resisted the urge so far. I'm sure the...
Good news for all of us.
I think the continued glowing reports in the motoring magazines are helping.
ETA, it's bad to see that so many 182 Clios are advertised as Trophys when they clearly aren't.
ETA, This lot are more reasonable..... http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/list ... mit=Search
Don't discount the MX-5 just because it doesn't have the same image as an Elise or a VX. They are great cars.
My Dad and I went halfs on a '02 1.8 Sport (LSD and 6 speed box) from BCA Auctions, with 49k on the clock it was
£3750 which included the buyers fee. With a few tweaks they are very...
Chris Knott sponsor the Xsara Owners Club site, I rang them to get a quote for my VTS. It was £60 cheaper than the next best. Well worth giving them a ring.
I run Carbotech pads on my MX-5 track day car, XP8s on the rear and XP10s on the front. With braided hoses and dot 5.1 fluid the braking force is simply amazing, am thinking of disabling the ABS to stop it from cutting in.
There is a down side though.......... £293 for the full set!!!!
