When did you sell as market seems to have turned a little. I was going to pay £6250 for a good car with shocks and brakes all done and at 105k miles with lots of good history.

about 14 months ago, market was about the same back then. Mine was modified a bit but kept all the OEM parts if someone wanted to go back

Sales have indeed stopped - even a couple of dealer ones not selling -

The way the pricing has gone has been similar to the Clio V6 & like those the bubble has burst - with only the A-Grade collectors cars really selling - but of course these go for top dollar.

So many are lulled into the belief that every car is a collectors car when infact similar to the vee only the extremely low milers are -
The cut off point on both seems to be around 20k miles - so if you have one on 35-40k then your sort of in no mans land -
To high miles for most collectors but probably to high priced for enthusiasts -

£9k for 100k - lol- thats going to be nearer 6k-
58k one just hit PH for £12k... - try 9000/9500

The ceiling for a trophy that doesnt reach collectors grade is ~ £11k
There a great car but the market is tough, Ive got a 115k mile 172 cup thats had some minor tweaks & with semi slicks & some cooksports its not far off trophy capability for peanuts money....

That was mine. He made a comment about a 172 Cup so suggested he got a 182 Trophy to sit with his alien 200 Cup. Easiest sale ever. Was straight up with the price which I thought fair for a 75k car.
Emailed over all the info & after he had driven ( and win his class ) in the N24 I met him within a week and job done.
Great car but as someone said already, not sure how much better than a 182 Cup a Trophy really is.
Loved mine and will have another. Just fancy something more useable.

Whilst there may appear to be quite a few coming to the market, I offer up some 'man maths'.

Say 300 of the original 500 cars still out there (surely more ?) ... owner keeps on average for 3 years .... so 100 sold per year which means 2 coming to the market every week. So maybe not so many for sale after all :)

'Man-Maths' can be used I find to arrive at any answer you need to. especially when calculating whether to do something on your car :)

Personally I bought mine as a fun car to drive on sunny weekends. If it goes up in value, so be it, but I'm in it for the long term anyway so not really looking at current pricing.

I looked at all sorts of hot hatches when I settled on the Trophy but wanted a good balance of available spare parts and reasonable running cost versus rarity, and I think it strikes a good balance.

I thought about quoting flebays post but chose not to repeat a photo of some bald bloke with a nail in the head. If anyone can explain the meaning of it to me fair enough, otherwise just seems like bollocks nonsense

I think he's trying to say that you, "hit the nail on the head" with one of your previous comments.

I got mine for £4k 126k miles 3 months ago. Probably worth £3.5k really.
I didnt want an older modern classic as they tend to rust. I didnt want to get a low mileage car as I wouldnt want to put miles on it.
The car is better than I thought it would be and reminds me of a Golf GTI campaign that I once owned especially as it is a run out model.
I think in time the prices will be 50% of a V6.

Ah right ! Obviously my understanding was clouded by Timothy Taylor last night  although that looks more like hitting the nail on the head, into the head. Really no need for 2 heads in the photo, well 3 if you include the hammer head !

There isn’t much and it’s all pretty much range rovers or commercials.. not many mk2 Clio’s..
