Hello and welcome,

I have had a look at the add and all looks ok, there isn’t a great deal of information about no.386 in the add so worth looking on the forum for some further background but would want to check the following
1. Sachs - when and where were they last serviced?
2. Cambelt - when and where was this done? Has to be a trusted specialist really for piece of mind
3. General service history is not really mentioned so find out what receipts they have and work done on the car

Looking at the pictures things I would ask or find out are.
1. Steering wheel looks good and nicely retrimmed. However and it might be me but is it a 197 wheel fitted or an original 182 wheel
2. Recaros look in good condition and original rear seats as well is a bonus
3. Wheels look in pretty good nick but is one a different colour to the others. Certainly a couple have a few bumps and kerb marks
4. Original stereo looks fine and interior looks well kept

Overall on face value looks a decent car however would want to know the answers to the above and would look at the classifieds here as a comparison of standard and costs

Good luck

Cheers

Mileage is decent for that price but as above - Sachs rebuilt? Cambelt done?

A small but frustrating thing for me would be the terrible mud flaps that have been drilled into the wings :worried:

The refurbed steering wheel is a 182 - airbag tells you that.

Non standard stuff that I have spotted:

Wheel stud conversion.
Rear Renault sport badge.
Skoda splitter (very common as originals are made from cheese and cost the earth).
Mud flaps (as mentioned above).
Aftermarket black headlights (originals are grey).
Aftermarket exhaust (originals rust and cost a fortune).
Carbon interior trim.
Refurbed original steering wheel.
Floor mats.
Nipple ring fitted.
Grill sticker.
Seatbelt pads.

You missed the non original rear badge and foot rest :) Lots I personally don't like on that but could easily be put right but to echo MossyV6 "the terrible mud flaps that have been drilled into the wings" Properly nasty,

Thanks lads,

yeah i'd prefare as original as possible.. mud flaps are shocking bad, worse would be the holes behind them :persevere: looking at the owners registar looks like it was for sale by ktec last year but fallen into a few hands by then. Kinda getting mixed feelings about it,doesn't helpthat i'm across the pond so can't really view it on a whim. think it may be a tough search as it'll have to live up to my previous one owner low mileage 182.. likely be looking for a keeper this time.

If it’s got a reasonable service history I would say it’s worth what the guy is asking. In the middle of this year I reckon it would have been snapped up at that price.
Obviously photos don’t give the true condition and can make stuff look worse/better than it is.

Reckon on spending £250 on the wheels. Then go from there depending on how “standard” you want it.
Given the location of the mudflap drill holes I reckon you could sort that easily enough

Certainly with my two 182s I ended up spending far more than I set out to but that is really only down to my OCD

Hi Sphession - I recognise the name. Didn't you sell your old FF to Maurice? He now has my first Trophy (#174). I needed to scratch the french hatch itch again and when a friend was selling #202 earlier this year I had to have it but it just isn't practical enough for me. I need 5 doors unfortunately. I posted an advert on backroads with pics & details if it's of interest to you.

Just had a quick scan on PH and AT and there's just a single Trophy for sale, unless I've cocked up the search parameters.

I don't look regularly but I can't remember a time when pickings were so slim.

Anyone else, or does it happen annually on bonfire night? ;)

260 on Ebay. The heat seems to have temporarily(?) gone out of the Trophy market, are potential sellers waiting for another windfall come the spring?

Hi Richard, thats right, thats the one i regret selling :grinning: I always had a feeling i'd be back in one myself and now seems to be the right time to run one as a second car. I hadn't seen your ad but i'll have a look now. Also PM sent.
