Hi, just wondering if anyone else has had this. I have knocking noise coming from the offside front area.
You will hear one knock as you pull away or accelerate and another as you let off the power. Don't have to be going fast or driving aggressive. I did jack it up but all looked and felt OK. Cheers!

If your engine mounts are worn it's common to experience a knocking sound under acceleration and again when you let off the pedal, the engine moves enough to cause the exhaust to hit the subframe.

If it's definitely coming from the front wheel/suspension area then it could be a number of things. Worn ball joints can make a knocking sound which is noticeable at low speeds like when you're pulling away and coming to a stop.

Does it do it when you turn the wheel or just when accelerating and decelerating?

I've had similar for a while and am no further forward as all mounts are fine.

Only happens when coming off the accelerator, never when accelerating. I did find a post on the Clio forum when it turned out to be the carbon cannister for someone after going through similar with the mounts.

Yet to have that checked though.

Just wondering if this ever got resolved, as mine seems to have developed a similar sound.

It isnt engine mounts as they are new , 1000 miles old anyway.

Although it has happened since i had the front struts off, whilst they were off ,,,ive replaced the top mounts and bottom ball joints, and had the struts refurbed.
Im guessing its something to do with having it all in bits...
All the bolts have been checked and are tight... Its a mystery...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Any help / suggestions would be appreciated...

Its difficult to tell what side its from, but I think it might be the new Renault top mounts. Theres a thread on Cliosport about the subtle differences..

Ive fitted new mounts which came without the inserts, so i fitted the inserts from my old mounts, and im thinking they maybee the culprit...
The knocking is just like in IanE,s post, but i think both sides are knocking...

Ok keep me posted.. It shouldn't be the shafts as they are identical to the OEM ones but without the hex in the top.. Were you able to get them tight enough without that ? I just use a electric nut gun on mine and it fine..

I had something that sounded similar on my trophy. It eluded multiple mot testers and investigations...
I had the drive belt tensioner and guide wheel changed the other day and the mystery clunk has disappeared!
