im curious how much people think owners effect the cars values...

We recently took a Trophy in PX which the chap had owned from brand new, so currently no previous owners on the logbook.
We have the V5 under the traders side of things, but considering keeping it for myself long term, which obviously is have to register it in my name... adding an owner.

Now i understand people would love a Trophy with only one owner, but would it really effect the value that greatly if it had two owners on the car?

Just after opinions.

Ta :)

I didn't think so, but it is quite nice having one and knowing there is only one official owner on it.

There's too many other factors to consider.

Is 11 or 12 going to make a difference? No.

Is 1 or 2 on a 120k mile T on cup shocks? No.

Recent history and condition are much more important.
I have seen many examples of one owner cars ran on a shoe string as they get older.

Well, it has a meticulous history with it, anally so.
It certainly has never been starved of any love nor attention.

Low owners is a bonus but with such a small pool of cars to potential owners if someone is wanting a car it's not like they have a wide choice so little impact really if the rest of the pedigree is right

For an investor I think mileage, condition and history are the most important factors. An investor will look for a low mileage example and sit on it. I'd bet that after 5 years of little use it'd be in worse mechanical condition than one that had been used over the same period.

I've just spent a month looking for a theophylline and eventually purchasing #444. Values have almost doubled in last 5 or 6 years but I think that values will level off or slip on the short term as owners may start taking the money made over this time.

In the long term I think it's safe to say that values will follow the 205gti, 5 Turbo and Peugeot Rallye's
