Hi everyone,

Thought I'd join and say hi as I'm currently on the hunt for a trophy.
I've been reading up and have a better idea on what to look out for, it seems to be best to get one with refurbed Sachs and with the belts changed, is there anything else obvious to check?

I live in Norfolk but can't find any for sale close by at all, i think the closest is Newcastle at the mo on eBay. Is there anywhere else I should be looking or does anyone know of any for sale?

Sorry for all the questions but hoping I can join in with the events and fun soon.

Cheers,
Harry

That was an even better buy last week on PH when the private seller wanted £6295 or sensible offer!!

Welcome to the forum and potential Trophy ownership!

In regards to whats best to buy/look out for then yes, belts done and Sachs done is a bonus but also look for service history and make sure its a well cared for example.

Sachs rebuilds are expensive but a member on here (Rik Perry) is now also offering this service to members.

Hey Karl, I'm just outside Aylsham so not far from the city, what about you? I've found a couple for sale now which may be the right thing, just got to go and have a proper look.

Im the other side of the city out near Wymondham fella. Ideally good to get one thats all original, main bits being the Sach's, Recaro's, rear spolier and turini's. Think most have had a hard life, watch out for suspension turrets drilled for front brace as they can start to rust (had this on my 172 cup). Take a look and see what you think, its up for strong money.

Hi Harry, good luck with the search, you'll need to be as slippery as James Bolivar diGriz to snag a good one at a low price.

I've been monitoring the prices for years and I'm sure these cars have done all their depreciating. I think I was a little late to the party getting my car this year as I saw some lovely cars in the 4-5 grand range in 2014 that seem to be 6K for something very similar these days.

Re: a hard life, the distinctly unimpressed bloke who coded me a new key for 75 quid said, 'every f*****r whose driven that car has ragged it to within an inch of it's life'. I didn't think he was wrong. In fact I hope he was right, these cars are meant to be enjoyed and maintained commensurately.

Hi Harry hope your search for a trophy is going well. I wouldn't worry to much about de cats exhaust. A lot have different exhausts on as the standard one sounds poor, rusts and costs a lot to replace. These cars are meant to be driven hard but just check the condition of the car and how its been maintained and looked after a abused or poorly looked after trophy will look it.

Thank you for all the replies, it's great to have some advice and help. I'm still searching, currently working away in Yorkshire so haven't had the opportunity to look at any yet which is frustrating. Hoping maybe next week I will get the chance to go have a browse. I actually saw one in Norwich the other day, driving along the Dereham road! I think I will have to bite the bullet and not keep holding out for a really cheap one (if one even exists). I've been reading up and learning nearly every night so hopefully have a slightly better idea on what to look for now. Hoping to be on the road in a Trophy soon!

I was down the Dereham Road but it was about three weeks ago. Do it though. I went from a 1 series M sport coupe to the T and, although its not as comfortable and doesn't have as many gadgets, I smile every time I drive it.

Hi MC1, just had a look at your mileage and sadly I think it's a bit high for me, I'm hoping to find something with no higher than 70-80 really. The hunt is ongoing....
