Hey. I'm a previous Trophy owner (#488) but sold that in order to help fund wedding/house purchase etc. I'm now in the position that I would like to buy another.

I currently have a BMW 1 Series diesel for my commute to work however my plan maybe to get rid of that and use the Trophy as a daily driver. I only commute about 60 miles daily.

During the ownership of #488 there was no issue of damper refurbs etc as the T was a fairly new car. Obviously now with the amount I have read on the refurbs I would need to consider a second set of front dampers, possibly a cheaper Clio Cup set to keep the car on the road.

Other than than the dampers needing done, are there any other issues that are of concern for these little cars? I'm aware of the belts etc.

Who else uses there T as a daily driver and what are the highest mileage T's that are on the road these days? How many Trophys are still on the UK roads these days?

Anyway, it's good to be back on the forum conducting research about getting back into a Trophy.

hi, just buy one where the dampers have already been done :p bit pointless having one with no sach suspension, think there is about 400 T left on the roads atm, mine over 100k and used as a daily driver

Welcome back. Tbh they are proving pretty reliable if serviced properly and seem seem to sail way on past 100k if cared for. So apart from the damper thing which you know about I would just be looking for one with lots of stamps in the book at the right intervals and though some are getting a little tatty there are plenty that aren't so maybe a little patience required.

Oh yes the cup dampers will be fine for a short period and are pretty cheap.

Thanks guys.

It it will be nearer the end of the summer/start of winter that I will look to buy another so plenty of time to look and I don't mind travelling for the right car.

I've noticed a few tatty examples when looking recently which is unfortunate but expected.

Not many for sale down the Shire. I've been looking for nearly a year now.
I have also travelled, only to be disappointed :-(

Where do you live Bob? I'm in Irvine.

When I bought my last Trophy I went to Aberdeen to buy it.

I'm in Troon. I have looked at a four. Went as far as Dundee to see what was described as a minter, only to be extremely disappointed. Travelled to Fife, same story. One in Killie, had cup suspension. Best was one in Glasgow, still kick myself for not buying it.

Hi. I can't remember the numbers. The one in Dundee was being sold by a girl from Monifieth. I met her on the Kingsway. Someone posted that they had bought it a few days later. Needed a fair bit of tlc. The Glasgow one was the first I had seen and driven. Again I can't remember the number. Sorry. It had 99k with full Renault history.

310 it was. I had over a two and a half hour drive to see it. I didn't even sit in it. It had a lot of dings and overspray over the rear n/s tyre. Burger King then two and a half hours drive home. Not a happy chappy. Sorry to hear about the belt. Did you own it?

I use mine as a daily and am doing a 70 mile a day round trip. I am selling mine at the end of the summer but mine will be close to 105k by then. Got a bit of work to do before I sell it though.
