Well, I've now done 2 more trackdays in my second Focus RS (an04 reg I bought last month with 1200 miles on the clock!) and need to revise some of the above comments:
It understeers less than the Trophy on track, oversteers easily in the wet if you lift off, (not surprisingly), the brakes are...
I worked out the second one as the bit just before Brunnchen, but couldn't manage the first.
See you there in May ?
I'll try to get there in April too, it's open every Sunday plus the days around Easter.
I just thought I'd tell people that I've sold my Trophy.
I've done 10,000 miles in 5 months, half a dozen trips to the Nurburgring in it, and a couple of Bedford trackdays. I've only ever driven it to, on or from a track, it seems !
It's been great fun.
But rwd, 360bhp, the howl of...
I had the same problem with the temp gauge, the engine never cut out, no lumpy idle, just a dancing needle. The local dealer saw my in-car phone video ( tip for that found on this site, thanks! ) and replaced the temp sensor within a couple of hours.
Temp gauge was fine afterwards, but haven't...
I've got a 3.4MB guide to driving the 'Ring (pdf file) I could email people who are interested. It's very detailed, and combined with an overview like Nik's map, gives you a good idea of what you're in for.
But I don't really think of the harness as crash protection, more as a driving aid. You feel what's happening more, and you don't use the wheel for anything except steering.
It's not simple, but the instructions are clear. You basically clip and screw it onto the existing "tongue" on the seatbelt. It takes about 5 minutes, but I did need to follow the instructions.
