Hi All,

Picked up a Clio Trophy No.409 last weekend from near Glastonbury. This is my 2nd 182 as i already have an artic blue 182FF which i use to travel from Bristol to Preston/Manchester every week - who says Clio's aren't practical

Anyway managed to get a really good deal on the Trophy and the barebones of the car are there i.e. Turin's, recaro's, Sach front dampers, etc. It does need some work including a new wheel arch liner for the passenger side, Engine under tray, front bumper has some damage but overall it looks like a good car.

I am planning to use it in the Bristol Motor Club Clio championship(series of sprints and attests) and as a daily driver car so going to get the Sachs serviced/powdercoated (Already been in contact with Rik who has been really helpful, new rear sachs and springs all round. Its running clio cup suspension and apex springs at the minute.

Camelot/dephaser is scheduled for the end of the month (As i can't find any proof it has been done since 2011), plus i am going to change the OMP steering wheel (it is really small compared to the standard one) and remove the ktec induction kit as it sounds like a boy racer

I gave it a good clean today with some Dooka shampoo and the overall paint work is in a good condition minus the normal fading on the door handles and a few other areas. Anyway here is a few pictures i took today.

Will keep you all posted on progress.

Cheers

Pete

Quick update - the plastic cover over the rear wiper blade was broke and letting some water into the boot - so went to remove the wiper arm today. It wouldn't budge at all even after lots of WD40 and with a wiper removal tool so had to hacksaw it off which was fun... anyway all of now and have a spare wiper motor in my box of spares so going to fit that this week. But need to order the 3 nuts/spacers in the picture attached - don't suppose anyone has any of these lying around before i ring Renault?

Also taken a picture of the current steering wheel which i am going to swap back to a standard one once i have tided up the existing one(i might get it rertrimmed by Snappy if i have some money spare)

Miller - gutted you sold your steering wheel before Christmas as that looked ideal :)

cheers

Pete

Hey guys, bit of an update on my Clio after a visit to my friend who is a Renault mechanic. Car is largely sound but needs a list of things doing! Nothing major but an accumulation of things really as follows:
1)power steering pipes - new ones required as they have been worn and cut due to resting on an aluminium heat shield
2) new bushes required for the gear lever as it is very sloppy
3)front windscreen wipers - new spindle and clips required
4)handbrake cables need redoing
5)air con pipe requires
6) arch liner required for the near side wheel arch
7)new thermostat
8)nearside gaitor

As I say nothing overly major just a long list of niggles. Hoping to get all of these done in the next week and then get the car back in action.

Plan after that is to get my Sachs dampers(which rik perry is kindly refurbing) and new rear koni's(from mark fish) fitted along with a new set of cooksport springs. All just in time for the 1st round of the Bristol Clio championship in march.

Will send some pictures through in the next few weeks to keep you all posted.

Thanks

Pete

Here are some updates pics of my Clio in bits! Just getting the power steering pipe changed as the current one is leaking and a few other things as per the list above..

Hoping to get the Sachs dampers and koni's fitted alongside some new bushes(standard front and powerflex purple rears) and cooksport springs.. looking forward to getting it out for the first autosolo in early march and some road miles beforehand..

Thanks

Pete

Haha rik! My friend paul is doing the work. And he has confirmed no one was injured as of yet but there is still time for the Clio to get its own back!!

Hi All,

A bit of an update on my Clio Trophy number 409 ahead of my first MSA Sprint at Castle Coombe on the 25th of March. Over the past couple of months i have had the following done:

- New Rear Koni Shocks - definitely recommend these from Mark Fish Motorsport
- New cooksport springs all round
- Sachs Dampers refurbished and fitted courtesy of Rik - absolute star!
- Mintex 1144 front pad and rear Brembo pads
- Standard aribox refitted and the KTEC air filter removed - was just too loud as my daily driver
- OMP steering wheel removed and brand new Sparco 350mm wheel fitted. I have the standard wheel in the garage if i ever sell the car.

In addition i have had a few other things done - like new wheel arch liner - passenger side, cheap short shift removed and standard one refitted.

I am planning on fitting the Jon Fonz - low side mounts tomorrow to my recaro's which will help to drop the seats by about 5-6cm.

Car is running pretty well now so just planning on getting a set of tyres for my Pro Race 1.2's 15in wheels reading for a few sprints and auto tests - thinking of getting either Uniroyal Rain Sport 3's or Michelin Pilot Sport 3's as i can only run standard 1A road tyres in line with the MSA regs for my class.

I am tempted to get the front end repainted but think i might wait until i have done a few sprints before doing this - just in case i end up mashing any cones or worse. Lets hope not...

Anyway i will upload some footage after my first sprint and let you know how it gets on.

Cheers

quick update - as it was semi-dry in Bristol today - i decided to take the seats out and then swap the side mounts for Jon Fonz lower ones, plus i also removed the plastic inserts which go into the body of the car.

It isnt that difficult a job to do just takes a bit of time to do. I reckon the seats have dropped by about 6-7cm which i know doesnt sound a lot but when you sit in the car the seat - feels much lower and more comfortable.

Cheers

Pete
